Christmas break is coming to an end, so as Charles and JD prepare to return to their respective schools, and I trudge back to what can most generously be described as the school of hard knocks, a final night of mirth and revelry is unavoidable. We decided to meet and do our usual thing at Charles' place, but his sister turned out to have reservations of some sort taken out on the living room. We usurped the entertainment centre in spite of this, however, and forced the denizens of the living room to sit through a showing of Withnail and I, rewarding them for their patience by leaving for a walk immediately afterwards.
This walk led us to the hallowed halls of Lorne Park Secondary school, which I pissed on, and then to the small forest adjoining, wherein JD regaled us with tales of his younger days, when he was deeply into the occult, and of some of the sub-planar monstronsities which offer to devour his eyes to this very day. Charles and I instantly got keyed up on the idea of summoning some soul defiling cacodemons to do our bidding in the local boneyard, but JD, once bitten, twice shy, vetoed the idea. It was time for chess.
I lost consistently as indecipherable chess jargon flew about, but not as badly as I assumed I would considering that I play mainly by intuition. Eventually normal chess got boring, so blindfolds were introduced, but we soon started grousing to each other about how tired we were, and decided to call it a night. Possible plans for a spring break trip were suggested, and then JD and I began to walk to Southdown road to hail a cab. On the way, he noted that I've been acting uncharacteristically humanlike lately, and recommended that I read some Kafka and Camus to remedy this, as their protagonists tend to be as fake and remote as I intend to remain.
