Awesome that you're getting some traction on this.

Wish me luck in trying to convince the hotel in the Hague that they did levy a second charge and should reverse it. Of course, if they don't, I just dispute it on my credit card. I'm very glad that it's an issue with the Dutch and not the French or Belgians - better english!

I don't know what time frame you're dealing with ... but from the trenches of customer service, attempted charges show up almost immediately, but credits or charge reversals / cancellations (like if it fails address verification) take a few days to show up. Which from the point of view of the company / hotel / whatever doing the charging, sucks. Gives folks plenty of time to get upset because you haven't refunded their money when you already had. Just my two cents; may not be relevant.

I could never figure this out. Back in the days before online airline tickets were common, I bought a couple of airline tickets through a local Carson-Wagonlit travel branch. In both cases, when my credit card statement arrived, I had been double-charged for the tickets. I was a college student, and I didn't necessarily just have that money lying around, either.

So I called the credit card company in a snit to dispute the charges, only to be told in a, "Why are you so upset?" voice that the charges had been rolled back, and a credit would appear on my NEXT bill. WTF? That happened twice, after which I stopped working with Carson Wagonlit. Sounds like it was probably the credit card company all along :-p. (Then again, what contorted process led the double-charge/rollback to be required both times anyway?) At least I used on their customer service time rather than the charging company.

Appreciated! After talking with them today, it appears it may be an authorization charge that hadn't been reversed - exactly the sort of thing you're talking about.

I checked just now and it's gone. So it looks like problem is solved and I'll send them a note letting them know it's all set.
