Why don't people understand that you can like a certain type of music, and like a certain style of dress, and that those two things are completely unrelated? I can listen to "gothy" type music, and not dress like a walking hot topic ad. I can listen to ICP and not dress like a homeless person. I can also, if I damn well please, listen to Britney Spears and not dress like a two dollar hooker. It sounds so ignorant everytime someone says to me, "You don't look like someone who would listen to __________". Music is not about image. I listen to so many different genres and artists, if I sought approval for music taste, I'd never talk to a human being again. I listen to shit that is not on the radio, I listen to shit that is. I listen to things that no one I know has ever heard of. I listen to things that my little sister likes. What I don't listen to is anything for approval-- and I will gladly admit that I have Britney Spears' greatest hits CD right up next to the Dresden Dolls and Prozzak. Why? Because sometimes, music just has to be fun....and dressing up like a two dollar hooker is all part of the fun.
