"You don't know, I might look good in pearls," Logan replied with a playful grin. "We can talk jewelry later though, why don't you come sit down and I'll light the candles?" he suggested, nodding at the well set table.
When he caught sight of it, he was taken aback. He'd thought Logan was...well, not kidding, but not as serious as this. He'd actually gone to the trouble of setting the table well and he had candles and...
"Wow," he exhaled softly, unable to conceal his surprise at the gesture. "You weren't kidding about dinner. This is great, Logan."
Jack nodded and tucked in. He'd had a few bites and a couple drinks at the party, but mostly he'd been talking to people and accepting their congratulations. He was hungrier than he thought he'd been.
"It's a nicer meal than we usually have. The buffet in the kitchen or the stuff we whip up is never like this. I knew Scotty was a chef, but I didn't realize he'd pull something like this off. I didn't know what he was making...except that I told him you were allergic, so it couldn't have shellfish."
Logan hummed a little at the mention of Scotty, and he leaned back in his chair as he picked at his food. It was good, but Logan still felt a slight unease when it came to Scotty.
"He likes you," he said after a moment. "Not in a friendly way, but- Well, let's just say, if I wasn't your husband, he'd be trying to get into your pants. ...And you don't make it any better. I don't know why you have to flirt with him."
"I've been really clear with him from the day I met him," Jack replied. "I'm married. End of story. If I flirt with him...well, I don't mean to. And I can't do anything if he's got a crush."
He stopped and took a bite, obviously thinking something through as he chewed and swallowed.
"But I'll work at not flirting with him. At all. I promise."
Logan looked genuinly startled by the offer. After all, he loved Jack, more than anything else, but the other man had always been stubborn when it came to flirting. He had always made it clear that it was just who he was, and that he had no intention of changing. And Logan, though he bitched and complained, had always accepted that at the end of the day, Jack would always be that way,
He wasn't sure now if he should be flattered or concerned.
"Jack, I'm not asking you to change who you are. I mean, I hate you flirting with him, but I know it's just you being yourself. I wouldn't have married you if I couldn't handle it."
"Oh, I don't mean altogether," he grinned. "Just with him."
Really, knowing that Scotty had a little crush meant that flirting with him was just cruel...and so it just made sense. Jack wouldn't be cruel, things wouldn't get confused, Logan would be happier. He didn't see a downside.
"It doesn't change anything. Okay, maybe a little. But one guy is hardly a sacrifice. And it'll make you happier, right? Then consider it done."
"You make it all sound so fucking romantic," Logan snorted, laughing a little and loosening his tie. "Heaven forbid you make a sacrifice for love, Jack."
"Heaven forbid," he repeated, but when he looked at Logan...it hardly seemed like a sacrifice at all. He'd do anything for the other man. Anything to make him happy. Anything to keep him safe. Anything to see him smile.
Yeah...not flirting with people- okay, not actively flirting with people- was something he'd give up for love.
"You know how I can say the most romantic things," he continued, grinning a little. "One of my many talents."
Logan took a sip of his drink and smiled again, watching the other man and feeling a familiar flutter in his stomach at the sight of Jack's grin. It never stopped feeling good, seeing Jack grin at him that way.
His foot lightly bumped the other man's, and he smiled to himself as he looked down at his food. Happy and so content that he was nearly glowing.
"So...what do you want to do after we finish dinner?" he asked, his gaze darkening as he looked at Logan from beneath heavy, dark lashes. As if there was any question what Jack wanted. In over a year it was still clear that given the choice, what he wanted to do involved Logan. All the time. In every possible way.
"Did you have plans or do I get to suggest something?"
"I figured I'd leave the after dinner plans up to you," Logan said, smiling a little as he spoke. When Jack looked at him that way, it was as if his whole body was on fire, and he wet his lips as he watched the other man for a long moment, before looking back down at his plate.
"You bring home a purse and an apron for me and I'll give you a pearl necklace," he said just as the door shut tightly.

"I can't cook. All this stuff is from the wedding, but- I thought it would be nice to just sit down and have a nice meal together."
