http://spankerella.livejournal.com/416364.html Half the time the world is ending. Truth is I am done pretending.
She was crab walking backwards to get away. This was it. The end, she supposed. Her father was going to be so pissed off.
Suddenly Lily was clear. The demon who'd almost had her was no longer there. He'd exploded. She was not exactly certain how this had happened, but it had. She was happy for that. Lily pushed some black hair off of her forehead. She was covered in demon goo.
That's when she saw who had helped her.
"What are you doing here?"
Connor glared. "I heard you were in trouble."
"That's not really your concern anymore, is it, Connor?"
Connor sighed. Women confused him anyhow, but no woman had ever been more complicated. Lily Joyce Snape was the re-humanized vampire doppelganger of Willow Rosenberg. He had met her years ago at a magical school.
Actually everything about the both of them was so complicated that it was only fair they had gravitated towards one another. He was the son of two vampires. It was too bad that the intensity of the both of them had nearly burned Lily and Connor to cinder. Some relationships were just too destructive. They'd been younger then too. Still, looking at her, he remembered.
All their friends remembered as well. It was difficult to have gatherings. Things were still strained between the both of them. Hell, it had been over a year since Draco had even spoken to Connor. He hadn't wanted it like this, and even now, Connor could not recall what had started the fight. He still cared about her. He couldn't help it. Cassie had come to him and told Connor that Lily was in danger. He has not even hesitated.
That had to mean something, right?
"Connor, look out!"
He'd been knocked into the dirt. Connor groaned and rolled over just in time to see one of the demons he thought had been felled dig his claws into Lily's chest.
"NO!"
He sent a fist through the back of the thing's damned head and was catching Lily before she could fall. She was bleeding a lot. He ripped the sleeve from his shirt and pressed it tightly to the wound.
"Get me... mom."
"WILLOW!" Connor knew she'd hear him. She had to. Willow could hear the grass growing.
He was not surprised when both she and Snape apparated before him.
"Lily! Oh my goddess!"
Willow was instantly trying to assess the damage. Snape, on the other hand, had hexed Connor. He didn't stop with one either. His teeth were bared and he was advancing with nasty little hexes intent on doing damage. A lesser person would have folded, but Connor was the miracle child. He could take a bit more than your average person.
"Severus! Help me!"
Connor was given a reprieve. He rolled onto his back and attempted to catch his breath.
Lily started coughing and turned to look at Connor. He was lying on the ground several feet from her. He had hex scorches on him. She looked at her father and glared before looking back at Connor. Lily felt like she was dying. She didn't want to go yet, but that really wasn't her choice. The cuts were deep, and her body was going into shock. She reached a hand out to Connor. She felt his fingers curl around hers.
"What did we fight about before? I can't remember."
"Shhh," he said. "Don't talk."
"I have to. Just in case. You're... you're the only..."
Connor felt panicked. Her voice was weak. She seemed to be fading. He tightened his hand on hers.
"Please don't leave me."
Lily forced her eyes back open. The last thing he'd said to her after their fight, that she could not recall the subject of, was for her to leave.
Willow looked from one to the other. "She's not going anywhere but home right now."
"Can I come with you?" Connor asked.
Snape glared. "No."
"If that's what you want," Lily said. "I hope the world doesn't end while I have to rest. I hate getting hurt."
"I know."
It was as if Willow and Severus weren't even there. In fact, it was Connor who edged Snape out of the way to lift Lily into his arms. When her father looked ready to protest, Willow held up a hand - which Lily appreciated. Her surrogate father had been very vocal in his dislike of Connor Angel since Lily's falling out with him.
Willow had moved them to the Snape home, and Connor did not even have to ask the way to Lily's bedroom - a fact that Severus did not enjoy.
Severus made to follow them, but Willow held him back a bit. "You need to help me get my healing supplies."
"I most certainly do not."
Lily giggled as her mother made him without saying a word. She, herself, could never quite master the resolve face. Hers usually came off more 'death glare'.
"You scared me," Connor said as he helped her into her bed.
"Didn't mean to," Lily said, grimacing as she tried to get her ripped shirt off.
Connor sighed and began helping her. He didn't want her to tear any of the magically 'stitching' her mother had done. There was still blood all over her. She needed to be cleaned up. Her green bra was drenched.
"Well, this is ruined."
Lily went to remove it.
"Whoa," Connor threw up his hands in front of his eyes. "What are you doing?"
"Taking my bloody bra off. It's not like you've never seen boobs before. Let alone my boobs. Don't be such a prude."
"I would prefer," Severus said from the doorway. "That he did."
"Of course you would," Lily snapped. "You want a former vampire current nun. Not gonna happen, pops."
"I have told you repeatedly not to call me that."
"So, Connor," Willow said awkwardly. "Will you be staying?"
Connor looked at Lily.
"Yeah. I think I might have to keep him. Warts and all."
She grinned. Whatever they had fought about before, which she could not recall now, seemed less important. What was important currently was the way his eyes had bugged and his voice had gone squeaky when she had been able to take her soiled bra off. Lily would like to explore his reactions to that some more.
