Restlessly Content

That's how I feel right now. Life, for the most part, is going really well right now and I'm actually happy with where I am. But I'm also keeping a weathered eye on the horizon, eager for whatever it may bring.

Why be content? To be content, to me, is like giving up. It's like admitting that you're not good enough for anything but what you've already got. Why shouldn't I strive for more, for better things? Life isn't about destinations, it's about journeys. If you spend your life in a destination, just sitting there at the end of all things, you miss what makes life worth living. No, I don't believe life is even about happiness. I believe it's about the endless pursuit of such.

I realise I haven't updated this thing in ages. I don't even know how long. Yes, I'm still working at Disneyland. I'm now specially trained in New Century(the jewelry/watch store), so I'm working in there a lot which I love. You get to take your time with the guests, really get to know them and spend a lot of quality time guest servicing, really making that sale. You have to know a lot about the items you're selling and know how to push that sale without pushing the guest out the door. It's challenging and a lot of fun.

I'm hoping to actually transfer to either Adventures by Disney or the Disney cruiseline. Adventures would be awesome. They're like adventures all over the world and 2 Disney cast members take you on the trip and see to all the arrangements(food, transportation, luggage, hotels, etc). They have tours in Italy, England and France, Ireland, Wyoming, all over the place! They've finished hiring for the 2007 season, but I'm hoping to get enough information by October/November(when they start hiring for the '08 season) so I can be fully qualified and what not. I'm waiting to hear more about the cruiseline, so we'll see about that one.

ORC was back in March, and that was fun. I worked it as usual, and was able to meet David Wenham and Andy Serkis, both of whom were lovely(Andy was just SO wonderful). And I got to work with Billy again, which is always nice. And see Ally, and their son Jack!! Oh Jack is just the sweetest little thing. He looks like the love child of Billy and Elijah though, I swear. Billy's filtrum and expressions, Elijah's HUGE blue eyes. Socute.

More inside jokes were created(including Billy expecting me to help him pee, David stealing other people's coffee, my name becoming Echo Harmony Skyhorse peace love not war Bob Marley, etc.) and more fun memories as well. I'm one of about 7 people so far starting to save up for a cruise trip around New Zealand and Oz. I've got about $1k saved up so far. Of course, registration and auto insurance are coming up. *groan*

I also seem to have somehow made myself a little fanbase, as there was a group of three girls/women who actually paid to get a photo op taken with me. They even had me autograph it later. Very strange feeling indeed, but very nice. A bit embarrassing, they made a sign saying "EchO Skyhorse Photo Ops $5" and taped it to the Creation sign for the celebrities *LOL* I think Taylor got a picture of it.

Speaking of conventions, I also worked Grand Slam in April. That was....interesting. That was the first non Lord of the Rings convention I've ever worked, and I had no idea who most of the celebrities were. There were people dressed up in Star Trekkie costumes, and I felt severely out of place. Most of the people, however, were very nice and I had fun working it. I did autographs for James Marsters on Saturday and, even though there was someone else assigned to do them on Sunday(he did them both days), he and his manager asked specifically for me so I did them that day as well. There was an...altercation after we finished and I don't think I'll be working with him again(To be honest I'm not all that fussed), but I won't speak any more of that.

Sometimes it takes a couple tries, but you tend to see people in different light at things like that. When working together, having out-of-the-ordinary opportunities. They present themselves differently, and you learn about them, about human nature.

The desert party Saturday night was lovely. We each had a different celebrity to escort around to different tables, and the guy that I was handling was Marc Alaimo(sp?). Very lovely gentleman, I think he played a Kardasian who was bad, but then turned good? Something about a daughter that got killed...I dunno. I don't really know who he is other than what people have told me, and the autographed photo of him I have. I just know he was sweet as can be. Hayden Panatierre(sp?) was also very nice, though I only spoke to her briefly.

OH! And I got to meet the twins! James and Oliver Phelps were there, and I had my photo taken with them. Didn't get to talk to them a whole lot because they had their own people handling things, but they both seemed very nice, as did Stanislav Ianevski(Viktor Krum). I even had them hold up a sign that said "Hi Angi" for the picture, for my mate. I'm such a good friend.

And now I'm roped into 2 more conventions for Creation. I'm going to be working Fangoria(to which Thora Birch, Clive Barker and Rider Strong will be going, eee!) this month. And then in August is the world's biggest Star Trek convention in VEGAS, which I've also been asked(well, it was a command really. haha) to work as well. I'm staying with Val for Fangoria and I think Michelle, Regi, Taylor and I are rooming for Vegas(at Creation's expense, of course). I don't know why I'm doing both of these, I'm really not that much of a fan. But I really enjoy the type of work! And now there are several Star Trek people that I hope to see again. Especially Marc and Garrett Wang! Eeee BOOBAGE!!! Inside joke. Way, way inside. *shifty eyes*

So I worked last night in NC(New century) until 10:45 and then I raced home, IMed my friend Andrea, and managed to make it in time to see a midnight(well, 12:15) showing of Spiderman-3. Not quite what I imagined it would be, it was still very good. Very weird, and very embarrassing to watch at certain points, but totally worth the $10. I'll probably go see it again with my dad.

I don't think that many people still read this thing, but I guess I'll try and keep it updated from now on. I got lazy. Anyway, ta!
