mrrrr WTF?!

Okay ladies and gentlemen, let me tell you a little story about how fucked up the world is.

A few friends and I decided to go to the Hollywood Film Festival today to watch the short films programme(someone we sorta know was in one of them and we were hoping to see him). We didn't see him(probably due to a mandatory evacuation because of a fire alarm going off), but who did I meet instead?

HANSON.

Or, Taylor and Zac actually.

We were exiting the theatre upstairs and walking down the hallway after watching the short films, when we passed 2 guys who were sitting on the floor sharing a huge tub of popcorn. It wasn't until we had passed them and we were around the corner that I stopped and did kind of a mini 'okay, breathe. what the fuck?!' and said to my friend Bre, "We just walked by Hanson." Yup, birthday boy Zac and scruffy looking Taylor.

So for once I swallowed my shyness and walked back over to them, stooped down and did the polite, "I'm sorry to bother you, but could I ask you guys a question?" Thing. They didn't seem to mind, so I asked them about the documentary that I barely remembered that they were premiering tonight. Taylor told me(with Zac chiming in here and there) that it was at 7, but that every time he asked they seemed to push it back a half an hour, so it was now at 7:30. He told me that tickets were sold out but that I might be able to get one from the booth at a certain time if they released a small batch or whatever. We got to chatting a little bit, I explained that I had just arrived in Cali yesterday after 5 days of driving from FLorida(at which they were 'wow'ing) and that I didn't know much about the premiere or whatnot. I also had to laugh and say, "Y'know, it's ironic. I've seen you guys like 8 times in concert, from California to Boston to New Hampshire and back, but I've never had the chance to meet you." And Taylor replied, "And yet here we are, sitting on the floor eating popcorn." Zac just burst out laughing and I had to as well; the irony of things just amazes me sometimes. Anyway, so Taylor asks my name, I shake both their hands and I wish Zac a happy birthday. They both say they hope to see me at the filming, blah blah, I thank them for their time and leave. Now I sorta wish I'd asked them for a picture, but I didn't want to draw attention or be a pest. They were very sweet, though.

So yeah. After years and years of being a fan, I finally got to meet Hanson. And SO not in the way I expected, or even hoped. But hey, I'll certainly take it! It was a pleasant surprise. It wasn't in some autograph line, or with a barricade in between us. It was just me and them and while it wasn't any deep or intellectual conversation, it was a special moment that I got to spend with 2 people I have the utmost respect for.

Oh, and their documentary, "Strong Enough to Break" is absolutely AWESOME. It's funny, it's heart-rending, it's touching, it's enraging; definitely moving, I'd recommend it to ANYONE.

Oh yeah. I'm back home in Cali safe and sound(duh), who wants to hang out? *waits for cell phone to start ringing off the hook*
