Hokay!
Dont cause a fire but preheat the over to 450F.
Mix flour + salt + baking soda. Easy in a bowl big enough or a large non stick pot.
Add buttermilk, fold in slow with a spatula (or all by hand but this is less messy). Yea there's going to be flour not quite mixed in.
Add the water, fold in the rest of the flour with your hands enough to just make two balls of dough.
Inscribe a + sign with the spatula on each ball
Now..
Sprinkle flour on bottom of cooking surface, place balls on cooking implement, cover, place in oven
Cook Covered for 30 minutes
Cook Uncovered for 10 minutes.
Variants:
Add Spices! Caraway Seed, Cardamom, Coriander, Cumin, Rosemary
Sprinkle the top of the balls with Salt or your Favorite Savory spice mix
Inject cheese in the center (you figure out how)
Top with a bit of butter.
There's a bazzillion of variants on the web. Google Irish Soda Bread and you'll see.
Season to taste and enjoy!
