Go Arizona!
Arizona, ranked 12 (lowest ever for them, apparently, in their 25-yr streak; many people/teams complaining they shouldn't even be in the ncaa tournament; don't know why, their RPI was higher, strength of schedule was very strong, etc.), beat 5-seed Utah (currently ranked #25 in the country) tonight, Friday, March 20, 84-71.
Whoo hoo!!!!!!
Amazing, very impressive. Apart from the back and forth in the beginning, they led the whole way. It got scary close late in the game -- only up by two -- but they rallied. 14 points is probably one of the (if not the) biggest leads of the night.
Next up, Cleveland State, which defeated Wake Forest, 84-69! Yikes. WF defeated Duke this year, when Duke was #1. We're in for quite the game on Sunday. The rest of the games were a lot of fun -- the Siena (ohio state - in dayton!) game went into 2OT, with Siena finally winning; another game (Fl St/Wisconsin, I think, also a 12-5 match-up) went into OT, too. So glad our game didn't go into OT. All but one of the Pac-10 teams (Cal, who lost to Md) are still standing. My bracket . . . is not too bad, actually.
Don't know how people can watch these games in public; have no idea how I got through the 1997 series (defeating 3 No. 1 teams). I was jumping up and down, yelling. Can't watch in public. I've watched with friends in college (warning them beforehand); I was very entertaining for them.
