2010

2010? Already? Crazy, crazy, crazy.

Anyone remember that commercial, I think it was Allstate? The spokesman was saying: "We were promised flying cars. Where is my flying car? Where?"

Little bit how I feel. Where's the cool technology that, you know, movies and television shows promised us? I have a phone that gets the internet and a lovely desktop computer with only one cord (no tower, everything else is wireless). That's pretty cool. Not anything Jetsons-level cool, but not too bad.

Speaking of movies and television shows, I've seen that people on LJ keep track of the movies they see during the year. Since I have trouble remembering what I did last week, I'm going to do something like that. I'm not sure why, but maybe if I have to write it down, I'll have greater incentive to, you know, see more movies. Who knows.

Movies in 2010.
01. Star Trek, 01-01-10. Really great movie, really enjoyed this.
02. Monsters v. Aliens. April.
03. The Blind Side.  April (went in with low expectations but enjoyed this).
04. Taking of Pelham 123 (remake). May.  Not bad; still preferred the original
05. The Hangover.  May.
06. Red. (when it came out) AWESOME.
07. The Rocky Horror Picture Show (Oct) (I can't believe I hadn't seen the whole thing)
08. When in Rome (Nov) - why so bad?
09. Date Night. Nov.
10. Burlesque. Dec. That's not embarrassing or anything.
11. Ordinary People.  Wow.  I knew Timothy Hutton was good, I just didn't realize how good.
12. Whip It. So much fun.
13. The King's Speech.  (Dec).  SO SO SO GOOD!!!!!!!

Television in 2010. (new / continually watched shows).
01. The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency, started Jan. 5. Lot's of fun.
02. Bones (Jan on)
03. Burn Notice (Jan.)
04. House (Jan.)
05. Psych (Jan.)
06. John Adams.  Really good. Laura Linney is amazing. "Founding fathers were community organizers." (Jan.)
07. Emma 2009/10 - Masterpiece Classic.  Good?  No random running around Bath (yet) which is excellent (and would be completely out of place since it doesn't take place in Bath, but whatever).  Like JLM more than I thought I would. (Jan.) ETA: OMG WIN!  They included my favorite line - the only married woman who is allowed to invite whomever she chooses is Mrs. Knightley, and until she is in being . . .   Ha!  Yay!  Plus the picking strawberries and Donwell Abbey.  This makes up for a lot.
08. Cards on the Table (Jan. 30).  Hercule Poirot.  Finally get the reference in one of Agatha Christie's other books about a bridge party in which one of the four is the murderer (and I'm glad there was a reference to an actual story she wrote and not just a random comment about a potentially good murder plot).
09. Lost. 02-02-10.
10. The Office US. March
11. Weeds. March.
12. Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. March.
13. Castle. March.
14. Glee. April.
15. Treme. May
16. The Good Guys.  May.
17. Doctor Who (2010) May. (Bloody hell I need to read a book)
18. Leverage. June (catching up . . . and keeping up)
19. Burn Notice. July
20. Memphis Blues. July.
21. Covert Affairs. July (working at the Smithsonian is not a "boring" job, show.  and that's her cover, no less.  grrrr.)
22. Poirot - Murder on the Orient Express, etc.  July.
23. Mad Men!!! July.
24. How I Met Your Mother - Sept. sucked me back in.  damn it.
25. Hawaii Five-0 (2010)  (yep)
26. Undercovers (Sept)
27. The Walking Dead. Oct.  SO GOOD.

Books. I need this section, even though I have nothing to add to it yet.

:(  This is sad.
