Summary: Three fluffy little 300 word Connor/Lester ficlets.

Author's Note I don't know what it is with these boys. When I want to write fluff, they angst. When I want to write angst, they start mucking about. This is definitely a case of the latter.

Declarations

"Were you in love with your wife?" Connor asked thoughtfully, "When you got married, I mean?"

Lester raised an eyebrow. "That's an... odd question."

"Yeah, sorry," Connor rapidly dismissed, "forget about it. It's not important."

Lester looked at Connor appraisingly. "I think we... Shared a very particular kind of affection for one another." There was a moment's pause, then "Certainly, we each provided something the other needed at the time."

Lester furrowed his brow, watching Connor's reaction. "Why do you ask?"

Connor dropped his gaze downward, self-conscious. "Promise you won't laugh?" he asked, "or tell me I'm being juvenile?"

Lester considered the request, all seriousness. "I'm not in the habit of making blind promises, Connor. Are you about to tell me something juvenile, or uproariously funny?"

Connor pouted. "I don't think so, but..."

Lester waited expectantly.

"It's just... I think I might be in love," Connor said, quietly and just a touch too quickly, "with you, I mean"

Lester didn't laugh. "Well I should certainly hope so. I strongly disapprove of being in unrequited relationships."

Confusion briefly clouded Connor's face. "But... Wait..." the tentative beginnings of a hopeful smile weaved its way onto Connor's face, "Really?"

"Absolutely." Lester remained perfectly clipped, turning back to the television news broadcast. "It's all the requisite pouting and making doe-eyes at people. It doesn't suit me at all."

Connor's smile grew wider, but it was guarded, like he was prepared to be snapped at or rejected at any moment. "No, that's not what...." he dropped his voice again, "You mean, it's not unrequited?"

"That's right, Connor," Lester sighed, as though Connor were being deliberately obtuse. "Your sentiments are both requited and mutual."

Connor pulled his legs up onto the sofa, curling into Lester's side and offering him a dazzling grin.

"Very Cool."

Manipulations

"You're filthy"

Connor looked down at his clothes, as though this was an unexpected revelation. It shouldn't have been; he was covered head to toe in a slimy green film, the sort which would have been unpleasant even when it was growing in its natural habitat - no doubt some stagnant prehistoric puddle. It had soaked into his jeans, so it was clearly not a recent occurrence.

"Sorry. The pond edge was more slippery than it looked... I fell in."

Lester refrained from commenting on how unsurprising that explanation was.

"Showers. Now." He pointed towards the shower room. "You're not getting into my car until you smell less like a tadpole and more like a human being." He sniffed. "Preferably a clean human being."

"Showers, definitely. Sounds good..." Connor's eyes took on a cheeky glint. "Join me?"

Lester expression made his distaste for that idea evident. "Absolutely not"

"Are you sure?"

"Entirely."

"No way I could change your mind?"

"Not while you smell like that, no."

"Oh," shrugged Connor, "Okay then, if you're absolutely sure..."

He turned to leave, then twisted back, grabbing Lester firmly with slimy hands and pulling him close enough to spread the green muck everywhere from neatly tailored shirt to crisply pressed trousers.

Connor pressed his lips firmly to Lester's, placing one hand on each cheek and leaving an obvious gooey smear on both sides of his face. "I guess I'll see you after I finish showering then." He grinned mischievously, "I promise I'll use lots of soap."

Connor was half way to the showers before Lester was able to draw his wits together enough to yell. "Connor!"

Lester wiped a finger down the side of his face, looking disdainfully at the goo adorning it.

Perhaps a hot, soapy shower wasn't such a bad idea after all.

Introductions

"Do you think I should wear a suit?"

Lester started to answer in the negative, but curiosity got the better of him. "Do you own a suit?"

"Of course I do." Connor replied, petulant, "More than one, actually."

Lester's lip quirked upward. "Perhaps I should have been more precise." he said, "Do you own a suit which fits?"

Connor persisted. "Stop it, I'm being serious. I want to make a good impression. Do you think she'd like me better if I wore a suit? She likes you, and you always wear suits."

Lester placed a hand on each of Connor's shoulders, making a show of looking him up and down critically. "Put on a proper button-down shirt and a clean pair of jeans, and brush your hair. She'll think you're wonderful."

Connor patted at his hair self-consciously. "You sure? I mean, this is going to be awkward already, introducing your ex-wife to your boyfriend. Are there, I don't know, rules for this sort of thing?"

"I highly doubt it." Lester replied, releasing Connor's shoulders. "Do stop worrying though, Cass just wants to meet you. She said that if I didn't introduce you two soon, she'd track you down herself. At least this way you know that you're being evaluated. You can be on your best behavior."

Connor's eyes went wide. "Evaluated? You think she's going to evaluate me? What if she doesn't like me? I think I should try the suit. She must like suits."

Lester sighed. "The first time Cass saw me in a suit for more than two minutes was our wedding day." Then he smirked, "And she seemed quite keen to divest me of it that evening. So there, you two will have something in common."

Connor blushed all the way to his ears.
