Summary: Tag to Luka's lovely, sad "Summertime" drabble. Read that first!
(It was so sad, I had to make Nick feel better!)
AN: First attempt at anything in the Primeval fandom, so feeling nervous now!

Abby reaches him first, hair plastered to her face, her smile contagious.
"Join us?" she offers, her arm extended.
"C'mon professor, we just survived raptors!" Connor bounds up, his grin lopsided and welcoming. "You'd look a right twit, managing that just to get heat stroke five feet from a sprinkler."
Abby asks, "Please?" and that's enough. Nick takes her outstretched hand, feels Connor's soggy arm wrap around his shoulders, and allows himself to be led.
The water is cool on Nick's face. He closes his eyes under the spray.
It's not quite happiness yet, but it just might get there.
