There are few things that get to me more than religious holidays that have been overly commercialized. I am Christian. I believe that Jesus was born and died for my sins. And I believe that He rose again. That's what Easter is about.
Easter is not about bunny rabbits and chocolate eggs.
It's about love, and the love that He has for every person on this Earth. And it makes me sad that our society, that's supposed to be tolerant of other religions and beliefs, has bastardized such an important event into a simple animal and a sweet treat.
I could continue, but I don't want people feeling like I'm shoving religion down their throats. Those who know me well enough know that I wouldn't do that.
Just keep this in mind when you go out today and tomorrow.
"Down the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem that day
The soldiers tried to clear the narrow street
But the crowd pressed in to see
The Man condemned to die on Calvary
He was bleeding from a beating, there were stripes upon His back
And He wore a crown of thorns upon His head
And He bore with every step
The scorn of those who cried out for His death
Down the Via Dolorosa called the Way of Suffering
Like a lamb came the Messiah, Christ the King,
But He chose to walk that road out of
His love for you and me.
Down the Via Dolorosa, all the way to Calvary.
The blood that would cleanse the souls of all men
Made its way through the heart of Jerusalem.
Down the Via Dolorosa called the way of suffering
Like a lamb came the Messiah, Christ the King
But He chose to walk that road out of His love for you and me
Down the Via Dolorosa, all the way to Calvary."
