(no subject)
this entry has nothing to do with anything except sonic youth.
you know, thurston moore is an absolute genius. i really, really need to meet someone who likes sonic youth (besides my guitar teacher, who does not count. because he's my guitar teacher. he's supposed to like good music.) because i am slowly going crazy being unable to talk about the awesomeness that it sonic youth. i'm like that with my favourite bands. always have to talk about them. and with SY being #2, i'm getting fed up. i think kat would like them... the girl bassist/guitarist/singer/songwriter/lots of stuff would be nice for her... and she already likes the obscene things they do with their guitars (no, i don't mean that. get your minds out of the gutter.) they have songs fast enough to suit her attention span... although they are quite long.
i swear, i'm contemplating just buying her daydream nation or something and hypnotizing her into liking it. because i want to talk about sonic youth and their awesomeness. alas.
anyway. in other news, the new guster video is awesomeness. but i hate how everyone talks about them. if i ever see the words "folk" and "pop" applied to guster again... *will kill* pop as a word should be killed. i know they don't mean it in the bad way, but baaaad thoughts. and while i occasionally tell people, when trying to describe one of the most awesome bands ever (wilco), that they are often called "alt-country" and this is a somewhat fair description, i would never ever use the word "folk" in a positive way, methinks. and if i hear one more "reminiscent of this band..." i will scream.
i'm okay. really.
in other news the furniture hunt for my room is not going well, because everything i really like turns out to be an expensive antique. birthday on friday. am already trying to get used to calling myself 14. it isn't really a very significant change, i suppose.
my life is boring. hence having nothing to write entries about other than my sonic youth frustration. i'm having fun, though. i like boring summers because it isn't as if i can just do whatever i please all day at any point during the school year besides the meager little christmas break we get.
"dirty boots" is a great song. i don't care what any sonic youth eighties snobs say. i love all 14 of my sonic youth albums because they all rule. heeey, 14. much like my soon-to-be age.
i got my guitar back today. the pickup had a really, really strange problem but it's all fixed now and best of all it's under warranty. i got free strings out of the deal too, which is grand since it was nearly time to switch them out anyway. i then wandered over guitar center and played gibsons in the little room where they keep the expensive guitars. les pauls own me.
