we have a new kitten. found him in bellaire and he was tiny, the dirtiest thing i've ever seen (he made my hands black), and veeeery underfed (he is bones and skin and fur only). we looked around for any lost kitten posters but it didn't look like anyone had been caring for this poor little boy. so he's ours now.
his name is thom (and NO, i didn't name him; c'mon, i would've named him after a literary character), and he is a gingery, fuzzy, scrappy little thing. pale orange and white and very soft. we took him to the vet today and he is about 8 weeks old, and healthy apart from fleas and being underfed. no leukemia or FIV or anything.
he is the least neurotic cat i have ever met. nothing bothers him. the vets were drawing blood and he was just purring.

the only problem is that we need someone to take care of him for nine days when we're in NYC... eep.
