If you hate Japanese cutesiness, you should really read Takashi Murakami's Little Boy. It's kinda pricey, though.

I guess all otaku-centric events are pretty frightful. Did you get to see any games you liked? Did your wife have any fun?

Well, she didn't have as much fun as I did (and I was just so-so, as I hate copious amounts of people). I guess I liked watching Final Fantasy IV (as mentioned) - good memories for that game, and it looks cool now! There was about a second of CG movie for Rydia (the coolest Final Fantasy character ever, by the way). Besides that... well. I'm not really interested in the other Square games at this point, either (too "Johnny's" everything).
