English Snack Food

A short list of snack foods that I tried in England that don't exist in the US:

1. Flapjacks (bars of oats, butter, and sugar. Not just another name for pancakes anymore!)
2. Pasties (sort of enveloped savory pies)
3. Irn-Bru (a bright-orange soda that sounds very much like a certain person's username...)
4. Bitter Lemon (a bright-blue lemon soda with quinine for flavoring (Irn-Bru has quinine, too))
5. Turkish Delight-filled chocolate (actually, I didn't try this one...)

The best English snack food is, of course, shortbread. Mmmmmm. Damn, these are GOOD COOKIES. I used to hate cookies as a kid (because American cookies kind of suck). But shortbread - good, natural, rich.

In Christmas, England gets to eat Mincemeat Pies and Christmas Pudding, too...
