My god, putting a mix CD together for somebody is tough. At work today Nicole and I were talking about music tastes, so I'm throwing together a CD of stuff I like. However... the stuff I like is wildly disparate. As usual with mix CDs I'm trying to make a coherent body, trying to in a way craft a narrative. Seventeen songs, maximum, trying to span my love of folk, country, rock, ambient, new wave and that weird shit we play at fencing parties. (As much as I hate to admit it, "The Humpty Dance" has like no place on this mix.)
Then again, the strings on "Sparrow's Point" provide a really interesting counterbalance to the ambience of "These Days."
Hmm. Also have to finish articles tonight. Argh. Work today was going great until the end.
