So my orientation at CSUN was yesterday (Tuesday) and it was pretty interesting, for a lack of better words. I woke up at aroun 6:30 after going to bed at 2, and headed out to CSUN around 7:00. There were a lot of people around, and I felt kind of intimidated but whatever. I called Alisa's cell a couple of times cause she had told me the night before that she'd be going to orientation on the same day. I sat around and waited for her to show up. When she arrived we managed to coax the orientation leaders to let her be in my group, Group number 10. They started us off with some un-imaginative ice breakers and then lead us to the PAC where we watched some long boring schpeel about CSUN. I, of course, fell asleep. The rest of the morning was pretty dull, and by 11 Alisa and I were getting hungry. We finally had lunch at around 12 and THIS was when the day got interesting.
See, the night before, Alisa and I had been talking about becoming more social and putting our social skills to work. So we decided that today, we'd make friends .. well atleast A FRIEND. So there we were at lunch, enjoying our food. When I suggested to Alisa that we join some random person at their table and make friends. Hesitantly, Alisa agreed and we made our way to a table close by where we met our new friend. He had been around us all morning, in the PAC, walking next to us, just always around us. So we thought hey? why not right? .. So we sat down and introduced ourselves. It was sort've awkward for awhile but we bonded! lol His names Kyle and he's a pretty cool guy. He's japanese and from Venice, and thats all I remember haha. After lunch we were free to walk around and explore the different clubs offered on campus. I took an interest in the AS program, whereas Alisa was interested in the Bible Studies. Kyle wasnt interested in much. lol. He gets to dorm though. I want to dorm !! it seems fun. lol it'd be retarded though since i live like 10 mins away.
The rest of the day dragged on, with more lectures and more skits. The Take 16 performance thing was pretty interesting. Alisa and I, surprisingly, stayed til the end.
Alisa and I were quite proud of our accomplishment today, with being more sociable that is, and we hope it continues throughout college. Too bad we didnt trade emails or #s or whatever, but I'm sure we'll see each other around campus. 'Pats myself on the back lol .. on to new friends .. new experiences .. new everything .. lol
