Canine Demodectic Mange
Imagine living your life with a never-ending itch. You find yourself constantly scratching and your skin is red, raw and sensitive. Imagine different insects and maggots eating away at your skin on a daily basis. Well, dogs diseased with mange have to live with these conditions day and night. Most dogs are thrown out of their home as soon as their owner finds out their pet has this disease. “The tendency to be susceptible to demodectic mange appears to be hereditary”(Bullock). Many owners don’t realize when breeding dogs that this disease is hereditary. Other owners don’t realize that this is another reason why it is so important to make sure their pets are spayed and neutered. In order to decrease and control the symptoms of Canine Demodectic Mange, animal owners need to be aware of the proper treatment and how to dispense the correct amount of medication.
