Okay, so it's not that awful--I just am wiped out after this weekend.

Halloween night I discovered how terrible Braum's is in the winter with labor hour availability.  I went in at 6:30 and got clocked in, worked on cleaning for 5 minutes before they told me they needed me to clock out and wait in the lobby, because they're short on labor hours but they wanted me there in case it got busy enough to need me back in again.  So I clock out, grab my stuff and sit in the lobby--thankfully I had a textbook to read and whatnot.  Another girl that was scheduled to work showed up as well and was also told to sit in the lobby with me.

A girl already on the clock (Monica, who I've decided is the epitome of all the things in society that annoy me to death), was making it well-known that she'd rather go out and party than get a paycheck.  So I was given the option of going home and letting Monica close, or replacing her and letting her go home.  Wanting the money and assuming it was going to be slow, I said I'd stay. Because of the labor hour shortage, they sent everyone home but me, Greg (a newer manager and grillmaster), and Matt (the night-shift manager that night).

So we have 3 people in the entire store. There are 4 active registers--Sandwich line, Ice cream line, Drive-Thru, and Package. Does anyone see the problem here?  Okay....problems?  Considering that a "skeleton crew" in the winter is typically 4 - 5 people?

So yea...for a while it's slow, in the period of time that most people are out trick-or-treating and such.  Then prettymuch all at once, what seems like half of Wichita comes in for post-fun snacks and stuff. Oh yea, and people are shopping for produce/package stuff, too--so this means that not only are we all having to run between stations (multiple registers, orders, and the back of the store for more supplies), but we're also having to keep up with all the customers--half of whom are totally cool and patient, seeing that we're severely understaffed for that kind of rush. The other half were pissy, snarky, and impatient--wanted to slap most of them for being so self-centered.

From about 8 until 11 (when the store closed), we were just packed and running like crazy. I didn't even get out of there until after midnight.  My legs and back hurt so bad that I couldn't even sleep until after 1 am. Thankfully it was the time-change, so I had an extra hour despite that. Sunday being All Saint's Day, and therefore a Holy Day of Obligation for Hubby, I went to Mass with him.

We had a different priest, as the normal one is going under treatment for a while for feelings of anxiety and severe depression--I feel bad for him. But the "guest priest" did a great job--his homily even got people excited and into it!  Then there was the presentation on stewardship by a couple in the church.  A few weeks prior was the story of the rich man who wanted to follow Jesus, until he was told to give away all his possessions.  This couple didn't use that idea, of sacrificing of self to follow him. Instead, they read for 20 minutes from a notebook about their whole life story--how their kids taught RCIA, how they did this or that thing.  After the homily, it was like hitting a brick wall--Even the priest looked horribly bored after the second time they switched readers.

That night I was scheduled from 600 until 1030 at work.  I was excited, thinking for once lately I wouldn't have to close.  After Halloween, it'd have been a wonderful break to get to go home that early!  So I get there, and I see on the schedule that the main manager (Elisa) had moved my clock-out time up to 10 pm. So I text Hubby to let him know and get to work. It wasn't too horrible last night--a few "rushes" but they were over pretty quick. I find out about 9 pm that instead of me going home at 10, they're sending the guy who came in at 8 out at 10. I was therefore the other closer. )(*$#%)(*$#)(*(*)&#$%(!!!!  Bobby (the manager in charge that night) kinda just said "oh yea, I was gonna tell you that at some point"

. . .

. . .

Seriously??

So I text Hubby AGAIN, telling him that now I'm CLOSING the fracking store, and that I'd see him about 11.  Well 11 rolls around and no Hubby. I call, no answer--I figure he's on his way and couldn't answer or didn't hear it go off in the loud diesel car.  I wait around another 10 minutes or so, which by then he should have been there. The manager is needing to go, as am I, so when he calls, I ask where he is--turns out he hadn't even left the house yet, thinking my text had said "after 11" XD  So I have the manager drop me off at a 24 hour gas station since Hubby had to refill the car anyway.

Bluuuuuuuuh.  Long weekend was long....

Today I don't even have anything to do--it's kinda weirding me out actually...to not even have any homework!  What shall I do?  O.O
