Well a good morning to all you wonderful readers!
As you might have guessed, I'm home again from the trip. Overall it was nice--the drive is long, and being away from all of my own things (read: My Bed) can be tiring after so long, but it was a nice time nonetheless.
Wednesday we went to the new Hartman Arena in Wichita--holy CRAP that place is nice! It was only the second concert there--the Music as a Weapon Tour. The show started with Chimera--who was kinda crap, but then, they were the first band. Lots of smoke and lights, a lot of screaming, not so much lyrics...
Lacuna Coil was second--and boy I love them :) There needs to be more female-lead rock bands! They did "Our Truth" as the final song of their set, and that seemed to really get the crowd, including me, excited--it's a great song.
Killswitch Engage I'm rather blase about--especially since they decided that those of us smart enough not to go down and get our asses kicked in the mosh pits were pussies. They shouted variations on that theme throughout their whole set--it put me and Hubby, as well as the three siblings of his we brought along, completely off their whole group. More than the fact that their set all sounded the same did.
Disturbed, the M.A.W. host, was--as per their usual--completely and totally amazing. I had very little voice left after their 4th song or so. The second encore song was SO masterfully done--they secreted David Draiman off the stage and out to the sound-tech booth, where he rose on a lighted platform as the song "Down with the Sickness" started. Everyone went NUTS! They did so well. None of us could hear much after that set :P
After the show was over, we ske-daddled out of there (using a lesser-known exit) and hit up Wal-Mart for snacks and drinks. I tell ya, there's nothing like cookies and chips and dip at midnight after a long concert XD
The next day we spent with Alex's family--it was quite a nice day, and we had a lot of fun just hanging around with them.
Friday we went down to Wichita and stopped by one of the apartment buildings we'd been looking into renting from. I think Alex found the place he wanted. A little more than he wanted to pay, but I get the feeling he's willing to pay a little extra for the fact it's a nice place and it's in a safe area of town, not to mention right off the main shopping/dining area of North-East Wichita. It's gotten decent reveiws online, and the folks I know who've lived there said it was nice and all--so I'm willing to trust them :) Looks like it'll be a nice place for us, as it's mostly older demographics (upper 20's into the 30's and onward) and fewer college kids to be noisy and all.
We spent the rest of the time hanging out with my family--and caught lunch with
r_bear --our conversation really made me wonder how closely tied to the Wichita Furry group I want to be this time around, especially since beyond me, the only "original" group-members left are RB and Snow, especially with the undercurrents of drama and tension I seem to feel. But then, if I don't encourage the group to have some fun together, aren't I just helping the troubles compound themselves?
I dunno--blah--all I know is I gotta clean the house up, and prepare for Hubby and I to drive all the way back to Wichita AGAIN next weekend (for Easter-visits to the families)
So...off to clean!
