good conversation
i am in a band with Evan and Anne. haha i just found out right now...apparently Anne and Evan have known for way longer then i have. hahahahaha... so next time we hang out (which will be tomorrow at the AfroPunk screening) we're going to write something. i got the idea that we should rotate. one of us writes a line, then we past it to the next person and so on. Anne's the only one who knows how to play an instrument. bass and guitar i believe. but it's not magnificent. at least that's what she lead me to believe. but it's cool because it doesn't really matter if we're coached in our instruments. we don't want to play shows. it's not serious. we just want a creative outlet. a satisfying way to past the time.
so i've been talking to Anne for about an hour and a half...good conversation about the pressures of being ambitious and naive. you never quite measure up to what you want to be so you get depressed. i say, we beat ourselves up pretty damn bad.
so i decided to make a deal with her. i suggested that we do something creative that we've always wanted to do but haven't for some (ridiculous) reason. i'm going to make my film and she's going to write and record some songs by the end of the year. we might end up working together on some things. she's been talking about doing a music video. maybe we could do this? our "band" could write and record a song and make a little video to go with it to entertain ourselves. maybe i could put it at the beginning of my film. maybe at the end.
this shit is like much needed therapy.
when we finish this...i bet we won't feel so failed and useless anymore.
