most productive day off I've had in too long.
The kind of early winter day that is just cold enough to keep you moving, but not cold enough to keep you locked indoors with the windows shut and a big old man sweater on.
1. woke up early-enough and, after ravaging the leftovers of Tori's oatmeal
2. Went for a run in Morningside park, remembered finding a chess bishop tucked away in the rocky stairway one day this summer, an odd portend (perhaps?) of other things to come; also remembered a picnic dinner of tilapia and tarragon, the first moments of complete doubt preceding an entire summer of heartbreak, woo hoo...
3. briefest and most fruitful Shabby Apple marketing meeting... I love it when these things go by quickly, and when we can get our ideas out and shazaaam! done.
4. meanwhile vacuumed up enough Tori fur to make several creepy 19th century hair drawings
5. Mopped, tidied, got dressed
6. GOT OUT MY VIOLIN, TUNED THAT SUCKER UP, AND PRACTICED THE BACH UNACCOMPANIED GAVOTTE FOR AN HOUR. Whaaaa? I think this will become a much, much more regular part of my life. I am in love with playing again. I think in the spring I would like to find a teacher and actually start learning music and working at building a repertoire again. Violin and French. Spring 2011.
7. Went to the MoMA, got an audio guide (first time for everything...) and enjoyed hearing tidbits about all the ab-ex-ers including, but not limited to, the fact that the MoMA acquisition's committee did not want to buy Vir Hiroicus Sublimus, and so the owner actually just gave it to them. aw, shucks. AND that Rothko painted "slow swirl at the edge of the sea" for his soon-to-be wife! how primeval and romantic....
8. acquired a silk dress for $23
9. Enjoyed a rocking, inverted-twist infused yoga practice,
10. made a dork of myself at trader joes trying to get one of the last packages of chicken apple sausage off the super top shelf in the refrigerated section and the cute boy who was in my yoga class (!) finally walking by and offering help.
11. Great VT time with Kasey. Love when people are honest about not understanding things or feeling less than perfectly inspired by something. I think the more honest we are about where we are in the gospel, the easier it is to move forward, onward, and upward.
12. Came home. Made granola.
I don't even feel worn out. bonus.
