I had my first really negative experience concerning my religion and the way I dress today. Yeah, there's been times when people have said little things or made a scene but nothing like this. My mom and I went to the grocery store, bought are stuff. Then we went in another store quick and got in our car. As we were putting on seat belts and getting situated a woman stopped outside of our car and stared for a bit the she went around to my mom's side and did the same. Finally my mom rolled down her window and the woman wouldn't say anything until she finally screamed at us, "Get out of my country!". Then she speed walked away. Not taking into consideration that my mom had already started the car, so we caught up with her. She and my mom talked and she was extremely agitated and combative. I think the conversation calmed a bit towards the end but it was very upsetting. I'm thinking she must have run out of the first store we were in and hunted for us because when the conversation ended she said that she had to go because her husband was out of the store and going to their car I guess. I don't she understood the many times my mom reiterated that we're American, descended from slaves and therefore African-American. She talked about how scared she was so much that my mom asked her if she had watched Obsession. She had. That movie is garbage and it really messed her up. I can't imagine people who might have watched and come out worse than her. I think I'm going to go get in bed and cry now. Just get it all out.
