so i just played the two best sports video games and dare i say real games in the history of man
greatest game #1 occured on my NBA live 2005 season. ben had come over to check out the newly acquired game and we created ourselves (realistically not 99s across the board) and we (the pacers) were to play the celtics in boston. we had a 15 point lead going into the fourth quarter but the celtics started to play some good defense and both ben and i had made some unforced errors in the form of turnovers and bad shots. so to make the story short, boston was down 59-58 with 33.3 seconds remianing in the game. They inbound the ball and paul pierce makes an incredible dunk over one of our players. so i call a timeout with 14.2 seconds remaining. now normally this would be a time that the pacer organization, recognizing the talent that they have, would give the ball to... Eric Calvi. but unfortunately he was hurt early in the 3rd quarter when he took a charge. Ok so with him out and ben's character being cold as ice, we decided to put in REGGIE MILLER, the king of clutch shots just in case we had to use him. so we inbound the ball. direct narration from the game..

i cannot even begin to explain how covered reggie was, and he totally nailed it in paul pierce's face. ok so the game is not over. there is 1.7 seconds remaining. immediately after the shot, boston calls a TO. they get the ball at half court and throw it in to their center (Raef LaFrentz?) and he tries to dunk it on Jermaine O'Neal. but, i make O'Neal reject it. buzzer sounds. game over. sweetness.

Ben is playing on live against some other dude. i did not play until the third quarter because i was talking to kat. so getting to the action Ben's colts are up on this dude's texans 27-10. the dude drives down the field and scores with 1:50ish left. 27-17. he then kicks an onside kick and recovers and proceeds to score again. 24-27.. no problem right? so then he kicks another onside but we recover it and ben tries to run out the clock. he gets it down to like 45 seconds. and then takes a sack on 4th down as he tries to convert a 4th and 3 that would end the game. so the dude gets the ball and drives down on my defense (the previous were on ben's) and scores 31-27 with 9 seconds left. so we are like dammit. we are gonna lose to this guy who scored 21 pts in 2 mins. crap we suck. so i have the controller and i choose return right on the kickoff. the guy kicks it right and i have a sweet lane down to his 40ish yard line. since i cannot throw the deep ball well against people online for some reason i give the controller to ben with 2 seconds remaining. he does his money slant play that usually yields around 15-20 yards depending on if he is able to break a tackle. but we need 40 and this dude backs up his guys and doubles marvin harrison, ben's go to reciever. so i tell him to do a hot route that will send Brandon Stokely deep and probably into double coverage. but what they hey right?
so ben snaps the ball, pump fakes, and bombs the bejesus out of it to stokely. stokely is WIDE open in the endzone for the go ahead game winner 34-31 colts.
we were going nuts in my room. high fives, hootin hollerin and the like. i mean wow.
