Time sure does fly, doesn't it? Somehow the prospect of hitting 30 weeks feels like we're about to slide into home plate.
We've started birthing classes. We've had one, then skipped a week because other people started after we did, and tomorrow we'll all come together for class number 2. So far, so good there.
I'm frustrated with being tired, hot, and trying to get enough nutrients (I have totally lost my appetite). I seriously despise summer.
On the upside, Grandma Chuck came over and helped me paint pretty much painted office/baby room. She graciously put up with me being on the floor a good part of both days as my back keeps going out. Not much to be done about that, it seems. So anyway... It's Blue!
So our colour scheme is coming together. The wall colour is called "Blueberry Buck" and will be complemented by green, lighter blue, and yellows/golds- though there are a few red/brown/orange accessories as well which also look good against the wall. It's bright. I like it. It makes it feel more like baby is coming. And we got low order paint so hopefully baby didn't get to feel any effects of the fumes. They didn't bother me so I guess that's alright.
So... the other thing we've long been awaiting is the crib. It arrived Thursday morning. It's really nice looking, a warm maple. Other than the teeth marks, it's in great shape. It's a little warmer and darker than I remembered so it doesn't exactly match the other furniture, but it's pretty close. My aunt was kind enough to bring it over from the other side of the state for us. Unfortunately she didn't bring any of the bolts, screws, etc necessary to actually assemble it. They don't know where those pieces are.
I did find instructions online- a pdf put out by the company that makes it. I also emailed them to ask about ordering replacement hardware for it. This is after I called the phone number listed on the pdf instructions... but I didn't get voice mail or anything else to indicate the number was correct. What I got instead was (in a heavy asian accent), "Hey yew come to da light place! You get hot Asian girl!" At that point I hung up. (And yes I checked, I did not dial incorrectly.) After Googling a bit further, it turns out that the company went bankrupt and out of business last year leaving many other people unable to get replacement parts or orders filled. So... I guess we hope my uncle finds those pieces or we go to Lowe's and wing it.
Pretty disappointing. I've been looking forward to crib day for months. But it was nice to see my aunt and cousins. I'm definitely a bit sad about the crib. We stood it up to see the dimensions and to figure out how it goes together (the instructions are somewhat helpful but even as described the holes don't line up in a way that makes sense- there are more holes on the sides than the supports, for example). So now it's in the corner... stood up like it would if it went together, but the mattress is stood up in another part of the room. :( I hope we can put it together well/correctly, but most of all safely. I have read various reviews and reports of these things falling apart and I would guess it has to do with user error which we are likely to commit.
Well, I guess it's back to the last bit of Saturday. I'm not looking forward to the rest of that, but we won't speak of that.
