Title: Spying
Fandom: CSI: Miami
Pairing: Eric/Ryan
Prompt: #14 Answers (for
20_est_relships)
Rating: PG
Word Count: 853
Summary: Leo wants answers.
Notes: Post-ep for 'Bloodline', but there aren't any actual spoilers. Unbeta'd, and kind of silly. I couldn't resist writing a fic with Leo, and this is what came out of it.
Disclaimer: Don't own 'em.

Ryan Wolfe was the most frustrating man he’d ever met, Leo decided as he stalked to locker room. The man had a way of avoiding subjects that was more annoying even than Horatio (or so he’d heard; he had never actually spoken with Horatio for longer than a minute).

Ryan probably didn’t think anyone noticed, but Leo had. How could he not? It was so obvious! There were just certain things that stood out like a sore thumb, and wearing purple and orange together was one of them. At first it just bothered him, because who in their right mind would wear those colors together? A five-year-old who hadn’t learned how to match clothing yet? Then he realized that Delko was wearing purple, too, and that made him think. The last time he was around Ryan and Delko, they were both wearing white. Did they always match? Was it intentional or just a strange coincidence?

Curiosity getting the better of him, he decided to find out. “Hey Ryan, got a question for you,” he said as he saw the man in question pass the A/V lab.

“Yeah?” Ryan walked in. “What is it?”

“You and Delko… what’s with the matching colors?”

Ryan blinked, and his expression changed from interest to confusion. “What do you mean?”

“You’re both wearing purple,” Leo replied as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

“We are?” Ryan paused, as if thinking about what Leo said. “Hmm. Probably just a coincidence.” But the glint in his eyes told Leo it wasn’t.

“Are you sure? Because you were matching last time I saw you, too.” Ryan just shrugged and walked away without another word.

Leo had run into Calleigh a few minutes later and asked about it, but she’d brushed it off, telling him he might have better luck getting a straight answer out of Eric.

Leo sighed. There was no way he was going to confront Delko on the issue. If he was wrong - but he didn’t think he was - there was no telling how Delko would react. Instead, he just decided to give up. It didn’t look like he’d find out the truth tonight, so he might as well go home.

The locker room wasn’t empty like he’d expected though. Ryan and Delko were talking quietly, and hadn’t heard him walk in, so he decided to eavesdrop. Maybe he’d still be able to catch a bit of information that would answer his question.

He groaned in frustration when he realized that they were talking too quietly for him to hear anything from his hiding place. Normally, he wasn’t one to spy, but this just wouldn’t leave him alone until he figured it out.

He waited a few more minutes, but he still couldn’t hear anything, and he had nothing left to go on. Just as he was about to leave the locker room and come back in as if he’d never been there in the first place, Eric leaned in and placed a quick kiss on Ryan’s lips.

Before his brain even had time to catch up to his mouth, he was very nearly shrieking, “I knew it! I so knew it! Coincidence, my ass!”

They pulled apart in shock and Ryan gave him that confused look again, although it wasn’t even close to convincing because he was smirking and that mischievous glint was back in his eyes. “What are you talking about, Leo?”

“Don’t give me that, Ryan. You lied to me! You flat-out lied to me! You said it was a coincidence.”

“No, I didn’t,” Ryan countered, the “confused” look disappearing instantly. “I told you it was probably a coincidence. Looks like I was wrong, huh?”

Leo glared at him. “I’m onto you, Ryan Wolfe. Don’t give me that innocent crap.”

Ryan crossed his arms over his chest, leaning back against the locker. “And now that you have this “valuable” information, what are you going to do with it?”

“I don’t know. Nothing. I just wanted to know I was right.”

Eric snorted, joining in on the conversation for the first time. “You’re right, he reminds me of you, too.”

“See, I told you. He’ll do just fine here,” Ryan replied, glancing at his boyfriend. He turned back to Leo and said, “Besides, it’s much more fun aggravating you than Cooper.”

Leo grumbled, unimpressed. “At least I don’t have to see you all that often. Only when Cooper isn’t around.”

Ryan grinned at him. “Haven’t you heard? Cooper’s moving to night shift.”

“Who told you that?” Eric asked, voicing Leo’s thoughts verbatim.

“Calleigh; Valera told her after she overheard Horatio and Cooper talking about it. Guess who he’s going to ask to replace him?” He paused, waiting a moment for Leo to catch on. “Welcome to the team, Leo.” Looking at Eric, he asked, “Are you ready? Your sister will throw a fit if we’re late for dinner.”

Leo smiled as he watched them leave. Ryan, annoying as he was, wasn’t a bad guy. And Delko wasn’t so bad, either. If Horatio did ask him to replace Cooper, he’d be glad to accept.
