Fic: Mission Accomplished

Jan 30, 2007 13:53

This is what I come up with when I'm bored and need to write, but I refuse to work on Invisible out of fear that it'll reflect the state of my brain at the present. ;)

Title: Mission Accomplished
Rating: PG
Pairing: Eric/Ryan
Spoilers: Um..... None?
Disclaimer: *kidnaps Eric, Ryan and Speed* They're mine now. *evil grin* I do however, actually own the barista who only makes a very short cameo appearance at the end.. ;D
Warnings: AU; Speed's still alive. Unbeta'd, mistakes are mine.
Notes: Was inspired by this quote:  A kiss is a lovely trick designed by nature to stop speech when words become superfluous. ~Ingrid Bergman  I came across it yesterday when I was searching the internet for something - don't remember what - and decided to add it to my list of possible ficlets. Speed's POV.

We're sitting in a secluded corner - our corner - of our usual after-work hang-out. It's usually Ryan, Eric and me, but Eric's late today. "Seriously, Ryan you'd make a great CSI!" I tell him. It's not the first time I've brought it up, either.

He sighs, frustrated with me, and I can't help but grin. "I haven't even gone to any seminars, Speed. I'm not ready yet."

"Nonsense, you don't need the seminars. Eric and I will walk you through it every step of the way. I'm sure Eric will be ecstatic to have somebody to train, especially someone as cute as you." I give him a teasing wink, to which he responds by rolling his eyes at me.

"Don't let Eric hear you say that."

"Right, I forgot. He doesn't like it when I insinuate there might be someone out there prettier than him." A hand swats at the back of my head and I take on a hurt expression. "Ryan, you talked me right into a trap!"

He fixes me with his not-taking-any-of-your-crap look and says, "Speed, you don't need any of my help to get yourself in trouble."

"Man, he's got you all figured out," Eric comments as takes a seat in between Ryan and me, noticably closer to Ryan. I roll my eyes internally; Ryan is probably the most oblivious person I've ever met - that, or he's purposely not commenting on Eric's advances, which have been more and more frequent lately. With him, it could be either.

"What held you up, Eric? For awhile there, I thought you'd stood us up," I ask, deliberately ignoring his statement. No, Ryan doesn't have me all figured out just yet. He has yet to realize that my brilliant idea for us to meet up here once a week (or more, depending on our cases and schedules) is just a plot to force them together.

Eric rolls his eyes - a bad habit he's picked up from Ryan. "Calleigh," he answers, then goes off into an unnaturally long-winded rant about how she forced him to stick around and check for extra clues in their case (I worked with Horatio today).

At first, Ryan watches him intently, seemingly hanging on his every word, but as time goes by, he loses interest, all the while keeping his gaze firmly on Eric. Eric, on the other hand, notices his staring and starts to ramble, although neither of us actually pay attention to what he's saying. I watch as Ryan's eyes drift from Eric's eyes ever so slowly down to his lips.

In the blink of an eye, Ryan puts a hand on Eric's chin and turns his face toward him, then leans in and kisses him, effectively stopping the incessant babbling. When he pulls back, he's the only one that doesn't seemed surprised by his actions. After a moment, Eric recovers from the shock and smirks, pulling Ryan closer and returning the favor, kissing him firmly.

They don't even notice when I get up to leave, letting them have their privacy - or as much as they can get in the quiet corner of a bar. As I pass by, the barista winks at me, a knowing smile playing on her lips, and I give her a thumbs up. Mission accomplished.
