The next day, Ryan felt like he was on cloud nine. A happy haze had settled around the apartment, something Ryan felt that even the worst of circumstances couldn’t penetrate. He was still worried that what he and Eric had wouldn’t last, that they would be ripped apart even though they were trying so hard to be together, but he managed to push it to the back of his mind for awhile.
He roamed the living room, wanting to do something besides sit around on the couch all day, but he couldn’t leave the apartment, there was nothing on TV, and everything was clean. He had briefly considered rewashing all the dishes, but decided that would just make his OCD think that it was actually welcome.
He was about to sit down on the couch, despite the fact that it was exactly what he didn’t want to do, when a picture caught his eye. Rather, something in the picture caught his eye. The photo was of Eric and his family, a candid shot of them at some kind of get-together.
The thing that caught his attention was Eric’s sister, Marisol. Eric had pointed everyone out to Ryan a few days before; everything was beginning to fall into place for him.
“Have you figured it out yet?”
The unexpected voice startled him out of his thoughts. Spinning around, he came face to face with the mysterious woman he’d seen the day before. “Marisol?” he asked cautiously.
The woman nodded, smiling kindly at him. “I knew it wouldn’t take you long.” Her voice turned serious then, her eyebrows knit together in worry. “But, Ryan, you can’t stay here forever. You don’t belong here.”
“Yesterday you told me not to leave, and now you’re telling I can’t stay?” Ryan asked, making sure he understood her correctly, even if it didn’t make any sense whatsoever to him.
Marisol rolled her eyes, crossing her arms over her chest, an affectionate smile on her lips. “No, what I told you was that you couldn’t go through that door. I see you weren’t listening to me. You and my brother both have that problem - you just hear what you want to hear.”
“You’ve been talking to Eric?”
“Don’t change the subject, Ryan. We aren’t talking about Eric, we’re talking about you.”
“You’re the one that brought Eric up in the first place,” Ryan pointed out, a smirk forming.
“I can see why he likes you so much,” Marisol muttered. “He always did like challenges.” Ryan blinked, unsure of where exactly that had come from, and she continued. “Anyway, as I was saying, you don’t belong here.”
“Alright, since you know everything, where do I belong?”
She grinned back at him. “Now, that I can’t tell you. And even if I could, I wouldn’t because you’re being stubborn. You’ll figure it out though.”
“Well, then what help are you?” he asked.
“Just thought I’d warn you,” Marisol replied, a smile playing on her lips. “But I see you don’t want my help, so I guess you won’t get any questions answered.”
“That’s okay; I’ll figure it out on my own. I don’t need your help.”
Her smile widened. “Mama will love you.”
What?? “Marisol, you don’t seem to understand. I’m dead, I can’t meet the family, they can’t meet me. It’s impossible.”
She didn’t respond to his statement, just continued to smile. “Ryan, I have to leave soon. I’ve given you the message I came to give you, so I can’t stay here. But, listen to me Ryan, you can’t tell Eric you talked to me. Don’t mention me at all; it’ll just cause problems.”
Ryan frowned. “Okay, why?”
Marisol shook her head. “I have to go, Ryan. Just remember, you can’t stay forever.” Then, she was gone, leaving Ryan standing there in shock once again.

Tyler still hadn’t returned with their video, so Calleigh and Eric were going through the crime scene photos, looking for anything they may have missed in their last four searches.
Eric stared at one of the pictures, unseeing, while he thought over the previous night’s events. As much as he wanted to reassure Ryan everything would be fine, at the same time, he couldn’t quite shake his own insecurities.
“You still in there, Eric?” Calleigh asked suddenly, looking up at him. “You’ve been pretty quiet today.”
“I’m fine,” Eric answered. “Just thinking.”
Calleigh frowned, but didn’t question him further.
A few minutes later, Tyler rushed in, his eyes wide with unmistakable worry. “Guys we have a problem. A big problem.” He handed the pictures to Calleigh.
“This can’t be right,” she mumbled, looking at picture after picture. “Have you showed these to anybody else, Tyler?”
“No, just you. Here’s the video, too.” He gave it to Eric, who had moved behind Calleigh to see the pictures.
Standing there in shock, Eric just stared, unsure of how to react to what was right in front of him. “This isn’t possible.”
