This week Cornillius Dupree was freed from 30 years in prison after DNA testing proves he was innocent of rape charges. During his lock up time he lost both parents. I suppose the state of Texas will give him restitution for the wrongful imprisonment. The state currently permits restitution for wrongful imprisonment of $25,000 for every year of time served, with a maximum cap of $500,000. Texas offers the highest restitution than any other state in the Union. (Of course, on the flip side, they seem to be the highest state for wrongfully imprisoning people and then letting them go free years later). Taking all that into consideration and then add the thought that of all the states who have capital punishment, they are #1 when it comes to pulling the trigger and black minorities have a higher arrest rate than any other group there, I think Texas (personally) would be a great place to visit, but not a state I would particularly want to live in.

Nothing against the people who live there, but their government and law enforcement would not be of my particularly cup of Tea.
