Phedre will be coming with her son, then, of whom she tries not to be stiflingly protective, but it's hard for her not to coddle him more than she usually does.
Iggy is following her, feeling really nervous and likely to either bolt or lash out at anything even hinting of danger right now. Still, he's trying to be calm for Phedre and he has a light hand on her shoulder to guide his steps.
Jaenelle feels them both coming and stands up, opening the door and poking her blond head out in the hallway, offering a smile that she hopes is reassuring, in spite of the darkness of her eyes. She's focused and intense, that's all. Determined.
"Hello," she says, voice quiet nonetheless. "Phedre, - you must be Icarus." She probably looks very young for whatever Phedre's said.
Right. And the typist is stupid. Jaenelle accepts the kiss of greeting, though with slight distraction, and it takes her a moment to register that Icarus is blind. Then she looks thoughtful. "Step inside," she offers. "Let me make you both tea. And you're - willing to let me help you?"
No try, there. Note. Jaenelle does not try to fix people. She just does it. Or that's her attitude.
Jaenelle picks up the teapot, then, and gestures to the table, starting to pour two cups. "Sit down," she says, "Please. Would you mind terribly if I asked you some questions, Icarus? --do you like anything in your tea?" She adds, voice light, perhaps a touch deliberately.
Despite the fact that her boy is absolutely able to fend for himself without his mum around, Phedre is feeling more protective than usual, and will guide him to the chairs.
She'll sit down by him, but for now, she is silent, leaving the conversation to Icarus and Jaenelle.
"Sugar. Please." Actually, all the light tones and overprotective mama (which he normally likes, though he'll never admit it) is making him even more tense and nervous. Nothing personal of course, just a few triggering things here and there. Adults. Being nice.
"Um, yeah. I don't mind." His feathers tighten absently against his back with soft rustling sounds. "Ask away."
Jaenelle would be sorry if she knew. It's a different kind of nice she associates with her own...experiences. However, now she's getting down to business, and her voice is a little more intent, businesslike. "Thank you," she says, after spooning out his sugar. "How old are you, first of all? Have you been at all unwell lately?"

Phedre is quiet for now - just listening in, a calm and soothing presence.
Totally forgot to mention it here, but I really really need the headers - otherwise, Jaenelle's notifs won't get through the filter I had to install due to the ungodly amount of 3rd party notifs I was getting on the two crackplots. <3 Thankies!

She nods, looking thoughtful. "Would you let me touch you?" She asks, after a moment. "I want to see what I can - feel, from you. But it's easier with contact, if you don't mind too much."

"Nothing will happen that you have not agreed to," Phedre promises gently, though she is only stating a fact, both rooted in her own values and in her trust of Jaenelle's respect for others.
And hold on for Icarus? ^^

The question, though, is his to answer, which is why she doesn't speak for him.

"I don't know exactly how old I am, but my flock's best guess is that I'm 14." 14, over six feet tall... Sure. It works.
"I've felt no different lately," he finally adds with a shrug.
Notifs it is. ^^
