Grainne and Aphrodite
Following a recent ritual with a friend, I decided to look up some myths of Grainne and I was interested to find out one of her main myths is quite similar to Aphrodite. Both were married (or to be married) to an elderly God, but run away with a young Fertility God. There could also be links between Ishtar although not much is written about her previous suitor.
It’s interesting to see the similarities of Venus in different cultures. There is always a positive and powerful Goddess, but interestingly a shadow Goddess that has a lot of the same attributes. Ishtar and Ereshkigal, Isis and Nephthys, Grainne and Morrighan.
