New Year's Resolutions

So that I don't forget what my New Year's Resolutions are, I'll record them on LJ

1. NO NEW BOOKS: No more borrowing books from the library until I read at least 5 from my bookshelf. I've actually got quite a good personal library, I just haven't read many of the books in it. This is the third year running I've made this resolution and I've only been able to last about 2 months at most before breaking and heading for the library under the pretence of getting dvds and music. I've decided to be a bit more specific this year. I have to read at least 5 books before I set foot in the library. Actually, it would make it more interesting if I wrote about each book I read as well.

2. Waking up at more regular hours. This is going to be difficult to keep actually, because I now work weird hours with my new job. But I will endeavour not to sleep in till past 9am (unless I've worked nights). Basically, I'm gonna try to get a full 8 hours of sleep by going to bed on time. If I'm serious about keeping this, I need to turn off my laptop 1 hour before I plan to go to sleep, and read a book in that final hour.

3. Exercise. I'm naturally thin (thank goodness), and until recently, used public transport to get to work everyday. This naturally meant a lot of daily walking and stairclimbing at fast rates. With my new job, I'm driving everyday, and I've gained weight, which is fine because now my clothes fit perfectly instead of being slightly too big, but I've also developed a belly, which I find offensive and must be rid of. So I need to walk 1/2 an hour a day again, or to do sit-ups (ugh!) and hula-hoop (yay!).

4. Remember people's birthdays. I'll just get an iPhone App. By the way, I got an iPhone recently. It's the love of my life and I'd marry it if it were legal. It's everything I've ever dreamed and more, and it's yet to disappoint me. I spoil it rotten, bought it a tartan protective cover and have named it Zirah (after Aziraphale from Good Omens, because "Tartan is stylish").

5. Come up with a present list. I hate present shopping, so I'm gonna be organised this year and come up with a list of presents to buy people long before Christmas and birthdays. This basically means writing down immediately any ideas for gifts that come to mind and then keeping an eye out for sales.

So those are my resolutions for this year. Hell, I'm betting against myself already and give myself 2 months before I break all of them.
