For Cassandra

I remember when I was a small child, a frightened child, walking amongst the pavement, my eyes focused on my tiny feet, my tiny shoes, as each step I took taking extra caution not to step on the cracks in fear that I may fall endlessly into my impending doom betwix the inferno. I remember haunting red eyes that would glare at me beneath the cracks piercing into my soul. Every now and again I would stop and look around to make certain of my surroundings. In fear that I may never again return to this earth. Above me were endless blue skies and the faces of millions etched upon the clouds that rolled by. Once again my eyes laid upon my feet as I countined this cold journey. Eventually I came upon an enchanted forest, sparked by the beauty of deep brown eyes. I stood there frozen like a deer in front of headlights. Unknown to the dangers ahead, Unknown to the desire, Unknown to the angels and demons that roamed this enchanted forest. Behind me the world had vanished. A shroud of smoke lingered into the skies, lingered above the heavens, where the angel gabriel played his harp. The music he played installed my deepest fantasies and my hellish nightmares.
