Abercrombie and Fitch

Jan 14, 2006 07:06

DAMNIT I was typing some shit and Jackie made me close out my entry out of confusion

Okay it wasn't her, it was all the fucking windows I had up

ANYWAYS, I basically said that I bought my first Abercrombie and Fitch shirt the day after Christmas, I had my Black License revoked, and my dad informed me that I shouldn't buy their clothing because their company is "racist"..

Well, I didn't believe him because I thought he was just generalizing their t-shirts and that a particular incidence didn't actually occur.

WRONG

So, it turns out, they made a bunch of Asian shirts that "depicted negative stereotypes."

So, me and Jackie are having this argument. I won't tell you the argument, but if you know us, and you know how we are, you could imagine how the argument went. The reason I'm not telling the argument is because I want people's thoughts on this and I don't want to influence opinions. And the point isn't to see who's wrong or right but to add perspective.

Requests: Reactions from anyone. Corey and Devere's reactions for sure. And not Jackie's. Leave reactions as comments and put your name if you post anonymously. I guess the "question" is what do you think about the creation of these shirts? And are they controversial / worth controversy? Are they wrong or is this acceptable in our society?

It's 7:30 AM. Time for bed.
