Status Update: Things are trucking along, and my the home remedy treatment for powdery mildew (milk, baking soda, canola oil, water) actually worked very well and quelled the tide. I have two good sized melons, but no idea when I should pick them. My first bell pepper is the size of a cherry. My corn, however, continues to be systematically eaten by what I'm thinking is the same squirrel. Today I found three more neatly organized piles of corn debris: silk off to one side, husks off to the other side, and half-eaten cobs stacked neatly on the same fencepost as before. This is probably the same individual that left half-eaten strawberries on the fenceposts. The target is at large, and is probably rotund with evil gleaming in those black rodent eyes.
