Stupid state!

Gah.. just got a rejection from the state for my tax return.. "Error 0909 or 0908" wtf.. do I pick one? Think I need to resubmit, may have mis-typed my DL number considering I still don't have it back yet! And for getting a state PIN for filing online, does anyone know where yo find your "Illinois Identification Number"? Or whatever state someone ( Read more... )

You should be able to identify yourself with any ONE of these:

State PIN
Drivers License or State ID number
Line n off last year's tax return (not sure which one)
Maybe SSN, not sure on this one.

BTW Illinois's tax system is very accurate - if you're anything like me your tax liability will be EXACTLY the amount that was withheld from your paycheck every year. All I ever do on my IL tax returns is owe a couple of dollars for my interest earnings which was NOT withheld. So don't expect a refund... :P

Note I think you're still required to file even if your return is $0...

Hmm.. Well I did the math an it shows me getting roughly $60 back as I checked it over. I'm calling Monday to try an find out what my pin is since I don't know what my stat ID number is or where to get it. I need it if I wanted to acquire my pin online..

Just checked, You can do a PIN inquiry online using your SSN, last name, and your 9-digit zip code or last year's adjusted gross income. Don't need the state ID number.
