I am honored and pleased!

Earlier this week, I received a Superior Scribbler Award from wyrmwwd. Thank you very much, wyrmwwd!

The rules for this award are as follows:
  1. Each Superior Scribbler must in turn pass The Award on to 5 most-deserving blogger friends.
  2. Each Superior Scribbler must link to the author & the name of the blog from whom he/she has received The Award.
  3. Each Superior Scribbler must display The Award on his/her blog, and link to This Post, which explains The Award.
  4. Each Blogger who wins The Superior Scribbler Award must visit this post and add his/her name to the Mr. Linky List. That way, we’ll be able to keep up-to-date on everyone who receives This Prestigious Honor!
  5. Each Superior Scribbler must post these rules on his/her blog.

Notice that THERE IS NO...RULE #6! (Sorry, had to get the Python reference in there...)

Anyway, in accordance to Rule #1, I hereby pass on the Superior Scribbler Award to the following bloggers:

  • brithistorian, who, though he most often writes about his family and his work, always writes about these things very well and very entertainingly, so that the most seemingly-boring of subjects is still a good read. (He also introduced me to wyrmwwd!)

  • ursulav, the artist Ursula Vernon, who not only paints and draws wonderfully bizarre stuff, but also writes about her own life in such a way as to make me (and many of her readers) howl with laughter at regular intervals. (Since Ms. Vernon doesn't follow my journal, I will have to let her know via other means.)

  • filkertom, the filk singer Tom Smith, who expresses his opinions on politics and social issues in a way that makes me jealous of his wordsmithing abilities. (He, also, does not follow my blog, alas.)

  • caprine, my dearest friend, who plays with words like Legos and always builds the most beautiful of structures with them. What she writes about may not always be easy to read, but her skill with words always makes it beautiful (from a sheer aesthetic perspective, if nothing else).

  • whswhs, who, being a writer professionally (albeit only as a sub-profession to his career as an editor), bloody well ought to be on this list. I may not always agree with him, but he always writes well, entertainingly, clearly, and succinctly. Thus, whatever he's talking about-from gaming to politics to everyday life-he's always a pleasure to read.

My criteria for choosing these people are:
  1. Overall writing skill
  2. Entertainment value
  3. Recent regular posts (no specific dates used, just a sense of 'have I read anything by them recently?')

However, in the absence of #3 above, I would like to give Honorable Mentions to the following:

  1. venice_diaries, whose chronicles of his life as a transient living in Venice, CA, were always ripping good reads.

  2. coffeeem, writer Emma Bull, who used to post much more frequently than she does now, which is a great shame, because I always loved to read her posts.

  3. gingertart/madcap_annie/mrsbathysphere, who are all the same woman. She kept making new accounts and abandoning, but not deleting, the old ones, for reasons unknown to me. But she always wrote excellent posts, even when they were about tragedy and pain. mrsbathysphere, if you're still out there, I'd love to hear from you again.

To those of you I haven't mentioned: it's most certainly not because I don't enjoy reading your journals. I do, very much! I just needed to choose the five (or eight) best of all, and that's always a hard decision (especially given that it's taken me five days to do). I'm sure some of you won't agree with my choices, but I hope you won't hold them against me. You are all a great group of friends, both IRL and OL.
