Venue Hunt, Day 2

Jul 21, 2009 23:06

OK, so my attempt to lock down a venue on the weekend didn't really go anywhere.

Instead I bribed Tracey into giving me a hand with a short list last night, and sent out some e-mail enquiries to the 8 most likely places.

Today I received the following responses:

The Jubilee - upstairs is already booked, but The Marquee is available (up to 200 ppl). Covered beer garden area at the back of the hotel. Can use own music and they're happy to discuss my other AV requirements. No room hire, just food purchase required.

The Hotel Orient - The Elephant Lounge is available (up to 200 ppl). Minimum spend on food/drinks, no room hire. Also no audio equipment, would have to provide the lot myself. Janine has offered her gig equipment!

The Story Bridge Hotel - "smaller room" upstairs available (up to 70 ppl). This really threw me, since I was sure they'd be booked with Riverfire on. Minimum spend on food/drinks, no room hire (although amount is higher than Orient).

The Riverside Hotel - The William Jolly Room is available (up to 110 ppl). Fee for room, food and drinks extra. tbh this is bottom of the barrel - it's not a bar, and the drinks selection wasn't too awesome.

Currently setting up times to inspect the first 3. Think I might let Riverside go.

Awaiting responses from: The Melbourne Hotel, and The Fox. Not holding my breath, but we'll see.

If anyone's had experiences with these venues, now is the time to speak :)

To be perfectly honest, I'm surprised and relieved these venues are still available, considering the first place I asked (the Shafston) was already booked. This might just work!
