That's NOT pate.
Sunday was my chocolate class. It was kind of disorganized and the guy was really ditzy, but the chocolates turned out so well! I spend most of the time making almond dragees (first and last pictures), but I also got to make a red pepper ganache.
Monday my brother and sister-in-law took me to Big Jones for my birthday dinner. We accidentally ordered head cheese as part of our appetizer. OMG so awful. But the rest of the dinner was swell. Especially the benne cake. And I got a lot of awesome birthday wishes from all of you. Thanks to yggdrasilian, robanybody, burned_phoenix, and lexzilla for the lovely notes. :-*
Today my mom came down for lunch. We went to the Cheesecake Factory for the first time in ages. I have so many leftovers. Their portions are ridiculous!
Then tonight I went to my French cooking class. We made moules a la mariniere, poulet saute chasseur, riz duxelles, and tarte aux abricots. I had never eaten mussels before in my life, but I couldn't resist eating them in this case. So good! Especially the sauce.
Then when I took the dogs out for a walk after I got home, I ran into this guy, Bill and his dog, Jackson. We run into each other every once in awhile and chat about random stuff, but tonight we had a real conversation. He's such a cool guy. Like the gay, male version of me, only older. I hope that we can actually become, like, friends.
