Surely I had fulfilled my purpose.

Thanks to all of you who offered advice in my last post. I really appreciate it and will most likely comment back to you when I have an actual offer. The recruiter hasn't gotten back to me yet because of summer hours and people being on vacation. Oh the agony.

Friday night, I was supposed to meet Tom & Jill up on Devon for dinner but I wound up (for the first time in my life!) getting on the bus going in the wrong direction. Unfortunately, the Devon bus is not one of the ones you can just hop off of and cross the street to get back going the other direction. So I took a lovely walk through Rogers Park in platform heels to get back to someplace where I could catch the correct bus. When I finally got there, this random man came up to me and said:

"Excuse me. I don't want to get you in trouble with your husband. But don't lose an ounce, honey. You look beautiful just the way you are."

Hello random flattery! He walked away before I could say more than "thank you" in return. So that was a nice ego boost. And I made it to the restaurant not 30 minutes after that where I had so much good food and so much fun.

On Thursday, I had a guy give up his seat on the bus for me and he got all old-fashioned gentleman on me too; instead of shaking my hand, he brought it to his lips and kissed the back of it! To be honest, I didn't know whether to be flattered or skeeved. The guy was about old enough to be my father. So.

I really don't know what to do with attention from guys. That about sums it up.

Oh and I read A Dog's Purpose by W. Bruce Cameron over the weekend. I laughed, I cried, I laughed some more, I texted Mom at 2am to thank her for recommending it to me. It's written from a dog's point of view which, trust me, I was skeptical about, but it works very well for the story. Brilliant concept too. I cannot recommend it enough.

recommendations from me to you, life is strange, flirtation, and a thank you miss, adventures in public transportation, books, overheard in chicago, boys sigh
