Reticulating splines.

I've been off sick from work for the past two days. By off sick, I really mean that I still turned on my laptop and/or answered emails on the crackberry and dialed in to conference calls. Also, I think WO called me at some point yesterday and I may or may not have been coherent at the time. Whatever, I have the flu; they can deal.

Of course, I'm probably not helping myself at all by cleaning/unpacking shit. On the other hand, I've now got all of my books put away except for the computer programming ones! I've got three boxes to go to charity and one box going to an old colleague of mine who now teaches stats at UNLV. Now, if only I had a stud finder, I could install my invisible bookshelves and be done with that mess.

So, last night, I found the box with my Sims 2 disk in it and created a neighborhood called Supernatural which I'm populating with characters from the show. Sim!Dean's main goal in life is to be Sim!John's BFF and Sim!Sam wants to be left alone to do his own thing. I swear they did that all on their free-will-mode own. Okay but then Sim!John and Sim!Castiel were getting along so well that they ended up moving in together and getting married. Hahahahaha I don't even know, people.

I had this crazy dream last night that I was at an academic conference giving a paper on the popularity of mpreg in fanfiction written by women. Like I was going on about women's expected roles regarding motherhood in western society and how the word 'mother' implies a multitude of emotional and social expectations but the word 'father' conjures providing DNA. By making men mothers in both the biological and emotional sense, they are relieving women from that societal burden of mothering in a safe space where they will not be rejected by male-dominated society.

I'm going to pretend that isn't my subconscious telling me to finish my Ph.D.

cleaning, gaming geek, sociologists do it in groups, supernatural, being sick is ick
