i really, really do.

i am back!

vacation was fucking awesome and i don't have to go back to the office until wednesday. i seriously fear my inbox. anyway, recap:

friday

we went to see indiana jones and the kingdom of the crystal skull. i was not impressed. so much hype and then so much disappointment. i totally should've just gone to see iron man again.

saturday

i was running around and trying to pack for most of the day. really, i suck at it as i ended up bringing like ten pairs of shoes and three jackets but forgot to bring extra meds. speaking of meds, i ran up to the pharmacy to get my prescription and e calls me because she wants me to look at a program that i didn't even code to see if i could figure out what was wrong with it. umm, what? HELLO I AM LEAVING FOR THE AIRPORT IN LIKE AN HOUR AND YOU KNOW THIS AND THEREFORE I DO NOT HAVE TIME TO TURN ON MY LAPTOP TO LOOK AT SOMETHING FOR YOU. omg and she had the nerve to be pissy about it. afjdlajfdkajfda.

somehow, we managed to make it to the airport on-time. not that it mattered since the flight was delayed. it was such a long flight and we were surrounded by annoying people and for some reason, my mom decided to buy food on the plane and it was soooooo disgusting.

at the car rental place, they tried to give us a buick, which i refuse to drive under any circumstances, but the guy upgraded us to a suzuki xl7 for cheap so that was good. although we got off at the wrong exit for the hotel, we made it there in one piece. it's a boutique hotel so every room is different and ours was pretty cool. we threw everything in there and then went down to the martini bar to relax, which was nice.

sunday

tom and jill woke us up bright and early to go to breakfast at moxie's. i was half asleep through the whole thing despite the 20 minute walk to get there. bren came with, which was a surprise. we spent most of the day wandering around pike's market. it was so freaking crowded, but i didn't mind because that's the whole vibe of the place, really. we went to the first starbucks, which was a madhouse, but at least i can say i've been there.

we bought some halibut and fresh veggies at the market and made a dinner of it at tom and jill's super-cute apartment.

monday

again, we got up early. this time to go to chateau ste. michelle winery out in columbia valley. it's my favorite winery, so i was super excited. i mean, their riesling is to die for. it's very pretty out there and we got free wine, so a good time was had by all. mom and i ended up buying like ten bottles of wine which i had shipped back home because we would've needed to buy a suitcase just for the wine otherwise.

bren took us to the crab cracker after that. they give you crayons to draw on the table with so i was doing that and the boys were making fun of me and writing obscene stuff next to my cartoons. kind of hilarious, actually.

we then headed up to mount rainier where it was snowing!! actually, we couldn't even go past paradise because there was still ten feet of snow on the ground in higher elevations. so we took pictures and headed back down.

after all that, tom and jill took us to serious pie, which is a pizza joint. you wouldn't think that yukon potato pizza would taste good, but it is freaking awesome.

also, we got switched to a larger suite in the hotel due to a plumbing problem. awesome!

tuesday

after brunch at andaluca, mom and i headed to the mothership (aka nordstrom's). i spent way too much money on designer shit that i probably don't need. i am totally michael kors' bitch. also, kate spade's. at least i didn't buy the awesome lilac-colored leather, $1400 dolce and gabbana purse; although i was sorely tempted.

we ate lunch at a little tapas place and then headed back to the hotel to rest up and change for dinner. dinner was at skycity, which is the restaurant in the space needle. the food was excellent: i had beer-braised short ribs and mom had pepper steak. also, the restaurant rotates as you eat, so we got a great view of the bay and the city.

tom met us after dinner and took us to a coffee shop up the hill from our hotel. it was pretty nice up until THE RATS CAME OUT AND TRIED TO ATTACK ME. no, freaking seriously. ew ew ew. but tom and i did have fun quoting dexter back and forth.

wednesday

randomly, we walked down fifth street and ended up at top pot doughnuts, which is simply the best place ever. good coffee and the best doughnuts i have ever tasted. plus, every wall has a floor-to-ceiling bookshelf on it except for the front, which is floor-to-ceiling glass. i was reading through an oxford book of quotations from 1953. good times.

then we went back to the market and browsed around. this time, i spent way too much money at sur la tabla. but i did finally make it to beecher handmade cheese, where i had the best macaroni and cheese ever! although it took us forever, we made our way down to the pier where we browsed around a bit before taking a harbor cruise. fantastic views.

after a bit more shopping, we wandered around aimlessly trying to decide where to eat. we ended up at the city grill, which we thought was casual, but was really not. still, more awesome macaroni and cheese!

that night, we went to the mariners v. red sox game with tom, jill and bren. it was lots of fun and we had great seats. it's a really cool field although they serve some weird food! like wild salmon and chowder. not going to find that at comiskey!

thursday

we met tom and bren at top pot where we had more awesome doughnuts and coffee. i was sad to leave them. i really want to move there.

anyway, airport. long flight. turbulence. crazy o'hare traffic. white castle. home.

....

i have sas training monday and tuesday and then it's back to the grind. i want more vacation!

it's okay learn to play, let's go go white sox, consumerism, dexter, food, movie reviews, island in the sun, fashionista, seek and destroy
