But it's all in fun and sin until someone calls it in.

It should be a universal office law that no one is allowed to email you with projects when you are within a half an hour of leaving work. This is what happened to me today. My manager emailed me all in a panic because she's going to a bunch of meetings tomorrow about this big, important client and she doesn't have anything to show the head honchos. The fact that we needed something for this was brought up at a meeting on Thursday, but on Friday, we got slammed with another client emergency, so the first one got shoved to the back of table. Apparently, she forgot all about it until like ten minutes before I was going to leave. So I got to stay an extra two hours. Awesome! I also get to stay an extra two hours tomorrow and Friday. I'm so leaving early all next week. I kind of have to anyway so that I can let Vinni out before he explodes.

After some debate, I decided to take my birthday off after all. I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to do. Probably hang out with Vinni and such. If the weather's nice, maybe I'll take him to one of the dog parks or nature trails or something.

I've got some other stuff to do around here anyway. We're going to start remodeling the kitchen, so I need to strip the wall paper and put down a couple of coats of primer. You know, seeing as how the walls are eggplant underneath. I also need to measure the hardware on the cabinets and take them all down to sand them and prep them for painting. And then there's the backsplash behind the stove, which is tile and needs to be stripped. Also, the linoleum is getting ripped up and replaced with hardwood or tile. Oh, and the counters. I have to measure those to figure out how much marble I'm going to need, which means I'll have to see about renting a water saw once we have the marble in-house. If I'm really ambitious about this whole thing, I want to do some built-in stainless steel shelving and wine racks. Basically, my parents have put me in charge of this and I get to do all of the work. I don't mind though because I actually know how to do it and I like it. My mom really doesn't want me to start until she gets back from vacation though because she still needs to pick out the hardware and paint and such. Alas.
