How is it already September? Where did the summer go? Oh, yeah. I spent it at work.
Speaking of work, this week was so awful. I would like to permanently erase it from my memory. So much crap going on. Plus, I made a huge mistake. Luckily, my manager was in a good mood and didn't seem to really care. She just told me to re-run the program with the correct parameters.
The only good thing was that they let us out 2 hours early on Friday. I caught one of the super-express trains home and was in the door by 4:30pm. I have never been home that early unless I had a doctor's appointment or something. My parents and I went out to dinner at Buca di Beppo. I had a whiskey sour, which is awesome and may replace the lemon drop martini as my favorite drink. We also ordered enough food to feed a small army. In the end, we had like three bags of food to take home. To work all of that off, we went to the mall where I spent only $20. That is a minor miracle because usually I can't step foot in the place without dropping at least $100. I even managed to walk through the shoe department at Carson Pirie Scott without buying anything. Although Steve Madden had this super-cute pair of red patent-leather heels that I stared at longingly until my dad dragged me away.
Today, we went to the Fall Fest, which is basically a giant arts and crafts show that has concerts and food and a carnival. It's in this town south of here that's basically one giant historic district. The majority of the houses were built between 1893 and 1929. All the street signs are wooden and most of the streets are paved with bricks. It's very neat. I was looking at the houses for sale while we were wandering around. My dad thinks buying one of the older homes would be a good investment. I just don't know about the commute because it would add probably another half hour onto my already 1.5 hour commute (one way). Plus, I'm not really financially ready to buy a house. Although in this market, with my credit score, I would probably score a great interest rate on a mortgage and be able to get a house for much less than what I would've paid a few years ago. Anyway, even though I was wearing sunscreen, I got burnt to a crisp. Awesome!
Oh, yeah, and Projekt Revolution is going on at the theater by our house and my dad kept on joking that we should go to that instead of the fest. He was like, "I like Linkin Park!" So, I read him the list of the other bands playing and asked him if he had ever heard of any of them. His response, "Didn't you make me watch a video for My Chemical Romance or something?" Haha, man, I can't even picture my parents going to a concert like that. Although Fall Out Boy is going to be coming around here in October and my mom said she wouldn't mind going to that. But the only tickets left are the ones in the upper stratosphere of the arena, which kind of defeats the purpose of going. You know, since the stage looks like a tiny spec from there.
Tomorrow, we are going to Michigan. I plan to spend the entire car ride sleeping.
