There is nothing I need except the function to breathe.

My mom was doing a lot better up until last night, when she had another attack. Although, since they couldn't get her in for more tests until May, she decided to go on vacation this week anyway. I dropped her and Dad off at the airport at 6am this morning and they should be lying on a beach in the Keys by now. Probably drinking mojitos.

I was going to update with pictures from my vacation, but my camera and my computer are conspiring against me! Another time, I promise. I did have an awesome time though! Although the first two days, I had crippling migraines and the weather was crappy the last two days. But, hey, it was better than sitting in an office and seeing immortality is always a treat! We spent a lot of time wandering around the museums, eating great food and cruising around in my Ford Mustang rental. My kind of vacation. One night, when we were leaving a Burmese restaurant in Chinatown, this one-eyed homeless guy stopped me to compliment me on my hair. He was like, "I love your hair, girl! Workin' it!" Haha, I don't know why but my hair tends to attract a lot of attention. It's not as though it's really a strange color or anything, but it is currently four different colors, so. Anyway, I wish I had videotaped that. I videotaped a lot of other random stuff though and if I ever figure how to upload them somewhere, I so will, if it's okay with imoutosan!

So, I only worked three days last week between vacation and my mom's trip to the emergency room. Still, I managed to write two SOPs, both of which my manager approved. Go me!

I've been reading Nightwatch by Sergei Lukyanenko and I love it to death. If you're a Harry Potter fan, but are looking for something for adults, this is it. Or if you're a fan of the supernatural in general; it's just a good read. Of course, I really want to slash the main character, Anton, with his vampire neighbor, Kostya. The tension between them is just delicious. I wish there was more of their interactions in the book instead of the quasi-romance between Anton and Svetlana. Anyway, ever since I read all of Dostoevsky's works as a senior in high school (for fun, no less!), I've wanted to learn Russian so I could read them in their original language. In undergrad, I meant to take some Russian courses, but they always conflicted with some ridiculous Honors course I had to take. Ugh. Now that I actually have the time, I've decided to try and learn it on my own. I'm not ready to spend $300 on that Rosetta Stone program just yet, but maybe, if I can keep up my interest in the subject!

Supernatural wasn't on Thursday because they aired the Cubs game instead. I was so pissed off. Who cares about the Cubs? So, I finally got to see it last night. I was laughing so hard through the whole thing. I really can't wait for next week's episode. Mmm, slashy brothers in prison.
