Throw a hand in the air if you're feelin' all right.

This weekend has been super-busy. I don't even know what happened to it. It all started with Thursday, which was my dad's birthday. During my lunch break, I had to brave the freezing-cold, windy weather to go to Garrett's in the Citicorp Center at Clinton and Madison. At Garrett's, I bought him a gallon of the Chicago Mix in a Bears tin and then went downstairs to get a vegetarian plate at Jaffa Bagels. Back at work, things were crazy-busy. I was trying to clear all of my accounts before I left for the day as I was planning to take Friday off. I managed to do that and make a fairly early train, so I was able to meet my parents for dinner at the Patio. Afterward, we went home for coffee and pie. While my dad was distracted, I slipped the Bears vs. Green Bay tickets into the Garrett's tin. He thought I had just gotten him popcorn, then he opened it and boy was he shocked! He was so happy with the tickets though. It's awesome.

I don't even remember what I did most of Friday. I just know that I was busy and that I'm glad that I took a vacation day. See, oddly enough, the very Citicorp Center I had been standing in the day before was attacked by a gunman and was put on lock-down. The whole area surrounding the building (including where I work) was a nightmare. People who take trains out of Ogilvie couldn't get home. There was no CTA service. Taxis were charging like $400. It was crazy. And, sadly, three people plus the gunman were killed.

That night, we picked up Tom and Jill from the train station (their line was working) and we went out to dinner at 94 West. My dad picked the restaurant as it was a steakhouse and he wanted steak. I don't blame him, but rather the manager of the place for our bad experience there. If you're going to be booked up with huge banquets and parties, then you really shouldn't take reservations for small parties. They stuck us in a booth and I got to sit in a chair at the end of the table. It was downhill from there. The alcohol was bad. The food was bad. The service was bad. I can't see ever going back there. But the company was fantastic, so that's what kept us going.

Jill had to work early in the morning, so we took her back to the train station, but Tom stayed over. I think. I passed out on the couch even though I only had two sips of white wine. It's a side-effect of all of my medications. I'm not too enamored of it. On Saturday, Tom and Mom went holiday shopping and I went to get my hair done. It's shorter now and I have flaming orange and flaming red highlights with some violet ones thrown in there, although those are harder to see. We ate dinner at Ed 'n Joe's, which has a nice view of the town square and then took Tom to the train station.

Today has been all about cleaning. And shopping. My old watch died and I figured it was time to upgrade, so I got an onyx Fossil one. And a bunch of other stuff. I also finished my holiday shopping for everyone. Except that I have to pick up something small for my dad to open on xmas day. I gave Vinni some of his gifts today. One of them is a miniature verison of the very soft blanket that's on my bed. He loves it. I spoil him, I know.

it's okay learn to play, consumerism, food, holidays, adventures in public transportation, cleaning, fashionista, it's your birthday!
