Welcome to my House

Feb 13, 2009 09:45

Well, here it is. A glimpse into my house. You'll have to excuse the "clutter" look as at the time of the pictures we were still unpacking and organizing.

Come in at the front door, for narrow is the way into my living-room =p

The bedroom: newly painted and carpeted. It is also one of two rooms with closet space, and as you can see the room actually wasn't built with a closet, so someone had to get creative. Someday I'll have a little armchair to put in this room where I can knit/read and drink tea in the mornings (the window faces East)

The spare room... and yup, that is all there is to it.

The study: because the bathroom is so tiny, and there is a lack of pantry space, this room also doubles as a catch all room. Office supplies, crafts, bathroom stuff, food, wash rags, craft, winter coats... basically if it doesn't have a home it gets thrown into this tiny little room =)

This is looking out of the study, and into the kitchen. On the right is the entry to the bath (very small.. sink, toilet, tub, and not really enough room to get a camera in there). On the left is this very narrow shelf/cupboard thing. It was built to house the electric meter, so good on whoever built it to make it a practical housing.  I have some canned goods in the cupboard, and on the shelf is dry beans/grains and tea. One of these days I'll actually get around to arranging it and making it look "pretty". Don't you just love the fun floor? The kitchen sink is under that window you see.

I thought I had pics of the kitchen, but I guess I don't... other then those we have posted to showcase particular activities in this room. But I did find this pic of the warming cupboard and stove. The warming cupboard is where the hot water heater is (bottom) and makes an excellent place to brew kombucha, raise bread, and keep our coconut oil nice and soft (top). The stove is my "dutch stove". If you are familiar with Otto Koining and The Pineapple Story, you may recall he talks about this temperamental stove they had at their mission station that gave him no end of trouble. I have inherited his stove *wink* (btw, next to the stove is the dish-drawer (like a dishwasher only smaller and more efficient))

Well, that's our little house. Hope you enjoyed the tour, and next time please stay longer and I'll make you some tea =)
