Dotty!

[Level - Public]

Well, as I’ve not been here for a couple of weeks there are various bits to update you on. Primarily the REASON for my lack of netness has been work and lots of it. By the time the end of the day has been reached and home is finally where I am, I’ve been too tired to do anything (and as my poor suffering darling will testify, far too stressed out to deal with anything). Hopefully things have calmed down for a while now so I should be able to be a bit more sociable. I’ve missed spending time with my favourite people and feel rather out of it so please fill me in on all the important bits.

It would seem that my predictions for 2006 (here) have started to come true. Last year was tough and the first part of this year looks so far to be tougher so to those who I know need them, positive thoughts and vibes are heading your way in bucket loads. Just remember where I am if you need me, ok?

So what HAVE I been up to at weekends? Well, mainly driving lessons (I can now reverse though not in a straight line and do, on average, a wobbly 3 point turn and my stalling skills are second to none when emerging), cooking and attempting but failing to sort out drawers and my own personal Mount Everest of ironing. More specifically though - Friday came and went, being the only day in 2 weeks that I actually finished on time. I’m going to gloss over the £100+ food shop we had by distracting you with food steamers, Kalhua, Vodka and Southern Comfort. Of course, as I had a driving lesson on Saturday I couldn’t very well go too overboard with aforementioned alcoholic substances (though I made up for it after my lesson!).

Saturday saw, courtesy of my nice and unexpected Inland Revenue cheque, a dot fest. I’d initially decided to be good and save all of the money but after tackling the oven and discovering it actually has a name and the insides are mottled dark gray, I decided to award myself. There had been a quite traumatic driving lesson, which only served to make firm my resolve to shop, and so off to Marks and Oasis I went.

I’m not quite sure why but polka dots have suddenly appeared everywhere and I admit, I’m hooked. Quite what the lads at work are going to make of this new less black _ebb_, I don’t know but I’m trying to break them in gently and am sat here in a white top today. So far, so good as I think they’re getting to grips with the fact that the world will not collapse if I’m feeling brave and using a bit of colour. I might EVEN go wild and get a red scarf and 50s style cardigan and black patent Mary-Janes to complete my look. I think some tips from akonken in this general department would be a good thing.

The evening ended with a cracking Gumbo of which there was far too much (giggles at drunk robinblokes) and some badly needed sleep.

My sister min_ki and my Mum came to visit on Sunday which was rather sudden and equally wonderful. We had a great girly shopping day, which added to my level of dots and a successful spree for a bouncing min_ki. (NB - I’ve just heard from her and all is well). The steamer was dusted down for its first use on Sunday evening and I’ve convinced devalmont that chicken can be cooked in it without killing us.

I’ve also had a bit of a retrospective weekend due to sorting through my ‘memory’ boxes. Am I the only person guilty of never throwing away old letters, emails and so on? Thought so! Oh well... it was nice to take a moment as I looked through it all to recall old friends I’ve lost touch with for various reasons. It seems a shame to have known such great people only to let things slide.

The KreuzMission is storming on but I’ll let my sweet devalmont tell you all about that. However, as is my duty and pleasure, I shall remind anyone in or near Cambridge on March 1st to get along to the Junction for the Battle of the Bands contest.

There is a Brum visit planned in the near future for devalmont and I. I’m still hoping to come through for another shoot with davecharsley and the Decline crew on 4th March but I’m also hoping to get through for a very special lady to help celebrate her birthday 25th to 26th February. Basically, Brummies will be very quickly sick of seeing me over the next few weeks!

Ah, no mention of any typical Emmaness... well so as not to disappoint. Additionally, as I currently have 2 knee-caps rather than the regular one on the left (due to a battle I lost with some concrete steps I was attempting to scale) and the resulting bruises, I feel trousers are back in for the forseeable future. Hmmm, perhaps the kick out dotty skirt will have to wait a couple of weeks.

Right, I’ve taken up far too much of your time with my yattering (and my tummy tells me it’s time for lunch) so I’ll bid you all a fond farewell and look forward to hearing from you.

Ebb
